Quintal Signs one year deal with Kings

I don't think this has been posted here yet, but anyway good for him happy he was able to find and sign with another team that wanted him after we let him go.

Quintal has signed with the Kings

I wonder what the future considerations are that Montreal will get now that Quintal has signed with the Kings
smart move by BG...to end up getting something for Quintal when he would have lost him for nothing come midnight

So what does the signing do for us and the future considerations. Do we get them, whatever it is, now that he's signed or did we always get the future consideration even if he didn't. Sorry if this is a stupid question just never really fully understood the whole future considerations part of trades.

I can't help but get the feeling that Montreal getting Laperriere may be those "future considerations".

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp...75&hubName=nhl

It says here that LA qualified him, so I guess he can't sign with the Habs via Free Agency any more.

As I explained on another forum....

Lappy is a group-V free agent.

Group V (unrestricted; a player who has played in 11 professional games in each of the last 10 years, and makes less than the average salary of $1.726 million can declare for unrestricted free agency once in his career)

- 10 Years straight in the pro's , 11+ games in each year. LINK!!
- Salary under $1.726 Million ... LINK!

So unless I'm missing something in the rules, he is a group-V free agent. And he has until July 15th to declare himself as one.

Thanks for clarifying that. I guess Montreal's future considerations will come in some other form then.

I'm happy for Quintal, he was one of my favorite player...

I just want to ask something...

Am i the only one to think that we should try one of our prospects before signing a guy like Lappy?

I think all the talk surrounding signing Lappy is apparently because he really wants to come to Montreal. That's never a bad thing, particularly when everyone seems to say toughness and physicality are Montreal's weaknesses and Lappy would bring that Crash & Bang style to the Bell Centre.
