Hamrlik may have been given a new role this year.. WE don't know if he was told last year, "Your job is to be defensive this season" and this year, "Your job is to pinch in and get goals.."

We don't know.. But I wouldn't be surprised with O'Byrne having a little more experience, the loss of Streit and the fact that the Habs are going with 3 offensive lines this season..

Hamrlik! What a start to the season he has had.

Heres some stats to back it up:

*12 blockshots - leads the team (1 ahead of Komisarek)
*2 goals - leads all D on the team (1 ahead of Komi)
*12 shots - leads the team (2 ahead of Sergei)
* + 4 - leads the team
*17:31 - Time on ice at even strength (1:30 more then anyone else)

Great stats but has anybody noticed he's making very unusual defensive mistakes for being Hamrlik? So far this season he's lost the puck or made a questionable D play as many times as he did all of last season

Along with his league wide best +/-

His goals are also second behind Mike Green (D only).
While his shots are 3rd league wide (D only).
While his block shots are 2nd.

I don't see what the big deal is. Hamrlik was very good for us last year and I expect the same this year. Would I like him to get a bit more involved offensively? Yes, as long as it's timely and does not hurt him defensively. The first 3 games could just be an anomaly and he'll finish with 25-30 points like last year...nothing wrong with that.

I thought he had a tough game in Buffalo. I kept reading how well he played and the broadcasters talking about his stats, but I thought he made a few mistakes.

Can't say I noticed anything last 2 games though.

He had the puck roll of his stick a couple times, and tried to spin off a guy but flung the puck into the corner where a Flyer was. I'd take 25-point Steady Hamrlik over 40-point Decent Hamrlik

Some people love to complain here. Hamrlik has been rock solid, our most solid D by a mile.

I don't think any of our defenseman have played exceptional in all 3 games to be honest. They have all had great moments and so-so moments, i.e: Gorges coverage of Gagne on Gagne's goal was horrendous, Briere being left ALL alone 3 times during the game by several of our D-men, etc.. there are several examples. I've actually been impressed by the help from our forwards to our defense, I thought they have saved their behinds several times, specially Lang - SK & Kosto line.
