Higgins with Lang and S. Kost for me.

Not because i wouldnt like him with Koivu and Tanguay but because it seems to work with Latendresse (playing with 2 speedy players) and i think Higgins speed would be quite an asset to the Lang trio.

I agree. Latendresse has looked great so far this season with speed, agility, and just about everything. He does need to hit harder, but it'll come with him. He plays best with Koivu anyway.

The '3rd' line of Kostopoulos - Lang - Sergei has worked pretty well so far. Higgins is a quicker, more offensive minded player than Kostopoulos, who will bring the same 'sandpaper' type effect to that line.

Throw Kostopoulos on the 4th line on the wing. Chipchura/Lapierre can fight out for the #4 centre spot, and Laraque can play on the other wing. Begin and Dandenault as spares.

+1

I think a Higgins/Lang/S.Kost line will be down right scary for our opponents. Plus I really like how Latendresse seems to step up his game whenever he's on a line with Koivu.

I am all in as to keep every player at his natural position if its not for a lack of players...

we dont switch players just for fun.... i LOVE carbo but he is far from being perfect. OR unless exceptional chemistry is in place.. See Andrei..

Hehe...

You know, I would love if he would back up those claims with a rationale...otherwise, isnt that borderline trolling?

It's very close IMO. I'll let it slide, but the other Mods might not be so nice about it.

we've seen latendresse have his 5 game spurt whenever he plays with koivu, only to disappear again. I know the original plan was to have higgins play with the koivu line, and I hope carbo doesn't go away from that.

although both higgins and latendresse are wildly inconsistent, Higgins still brings it on a daily basis whereas you can go a few games without hearing latendresse's name. I'd like to see the higgins experiment with that line much before I settle with a latendresse experiment on that line.

I kinda hope he does. Although, I'd have other modifications. Right now though, Higgins is more suited to play with Lang and Sergei than Lats. We have two slow players on the team, Lats and Lang. While one is improving and the other is an aging veteran. If team speed really is what we're after, which we are and have in spades, then having the two weakest skaters on the same line is not the kinda look we want. Plus, I think Lats is better with Koivu than he is without him. Higgins will put up points without Koivu and is much better defensively and his speed will help out Lang down low on the boards.

I absolutely love the chemistry between Koivu and Lats and I would hate to see it broke up... and I feel that Higgins would complement perfectly Lang and SK... his speed is what is lacking on that line.

That way, we would have 3 excellent (not good) lines... I hope no one else will be injured when he'll come back. I so want to see our Fabulous 9 in action
+1

Lats plays very well on the boards and is able to create space for saks and Tanguay with his body. Higgins is probably the best along the board in the habs and goes in front of the net, but lang and lats on the same line is not very fast.

You guys are aware that it's allowed for the coach to change the lines mid-game...right?

It's not as if Latendresse has a bad period, he has to stay on the 2nd line.

Lats improves in the off season.

Higgins improves in the off season.

Higgins injured, no-one sees him start of the season.

Lats plays second line, now touted to stay there.

I could bet money that the moment Higgins is 100% and plays back on Koivu's line, everyone is going to say, "Wow, Higgins is an absolute BEAST! His shot looks so much better this year and the amount of effort he put in the game was second to none." and instead of saying, "Lats had a great game on Lang's line, the lack of speed on the line doesn't hurt the team at all. Kostitsyn is a great glue for those two", we'll see, "Lats played a bad game, he is sooooooo slow except for that one pass/goal."

Sad. Just sad, thats all.

I hope for a Higgins-Lang-S Kost line but theres a reason why Carbo wanted him and Tanguay. Since we dont really have any shutdown line, Higgins-Koivu-Tanguay and A Kost-Pleks-Kovy would give us 2 defensive responsible lines that we can match up against any line in the NHL.

However, if Lats can keep up he's physical play and responsible game, Habs have much more to gain with Higgins with Lang and Sergei.

I think Koivu line should remain as it is for a little while. IMO it would be interesting to see Higgins with Plekanec & Kovalev - and Andrei with his brother and Lang. Maybe that would make Kostitsyn sr to use his shot more.
