Kimmo Timonen - Ossi Vaananen
Braydon Coburn - Steve Eminger
Luca Sbisa - Andrew Alberts
Lasse Kukkonen
Better, but still weak.
Man, I hate that Jones and Parent are out. Ugh. Parent especially.
Actually, I might put Alberts with Coburn and Eminger with Kukkonen. As much as I like the little I have seen from Sbisa so far, I dont want them to keep him in the NHL.

From the way he played in the 2nd and 3rd periods, I think he is a better option than Kukkonen right now. So IMO, he at least gets his 9 games.
team then the B's)
So what's the deal with Ned Lukacevic? I saw he spent time in the ECHL. Maybe dealing Alberts was just a salary dump for the Bruins. Anything you guys can share?
Lukacevic is a minor league player. unlikely you will see him in Boston unless the Bruins are severely hit with injuries. good skater, not overly physical, but will work hard. the fans in Providence or the Bruins ECHL team will like him. We had him in Manchester, off and on last year, so I am pretty familiar with him.
I do not get why everyone is on Kukkonen case. He was not the only reason Flyers looked like crap in 1st period against NYR
Sbisa was MIA in 1st and even after 1st he was not that good
Eminger average at best.
Biron was freaking horrible. Sorry but he was.
Yet, it is all Kukkonen fault.
He definitely played badly Saturday, no getting around it.
But just like last year, everyone else gets to keep playing and work through it - including Eminger who was on ice for 2 goals against and not just 1 (that btw Biron could have prevented if he wasn't the suck on Saturday either) - but Kukkonen gets to sit for the rest of the game except maybe 1 shift in the 2nd & 3rd. Same story, new year.
He is a goner as soon as they can get rid of him.
Alberts is nothing special. All I hope is they can manage to overcome it all until Parent and Jones are back and healthy.
Right now he is, but when the season hits 40 games, he is going to be beat up and worn out and Kukkonen will be the better option.
I definitely understand the concern, because it is a fairly common thing for young players, especially D-men; but you are speaking as if it is definitive...and it isn't.
You can really only go with what happens now. You can't manage a team for today by worrying about the team in 40 games.

Well, everyone else get a chance from Stevens while Kukkonen does not. With Kukkonen Stevens has 2 options. Bench him or scratch him.
IMO Alberts will be the guy that stays all year he may stay on the 3rd pair but he is a very good PK guy.
He will fight, hit and be the stay at home guy ,that keeps other teams honest.I would not be surprised if he was still in philly 4-5 years from now
Alberts is a terrific skater for his size but he doesn't know if he's coming or going. Takes bad angles to the attacker and lets attackers beat him wide. Gets confused easily and tends to make bad decisions with the puck when pressured. Can deliver punishing hits. Will drop the gloves...and get his you know what kicked. Decent on the PK. No offensive skills. He has the skills to be a top defensive defensemen but his brain hasn't gotten it and may never will.

It is very, very, very rare that a dman will come in the leage at 18 years old. I am not even questioning his ability, you run the risk of getting this kid hurt before his body is ready for the NHL grind a dman will go through. Not to mention that this isnt a team that is rebuilding, this is a team that should legitimately be trying to compete for the cup this year.

is pretty bad, but not disastrous. I never thought I would say it, but we need Randy Jones back badly.
Agreed. I am all for playing him in all 9 games, but he should go down after that.
