Yeah he slid in the draft due to fears he'd never come to NA, since he said before the draft he was signing with Omsk and not coming to NA at 18....

Regardless RIP Alexei....

all the other stuff seems trivial now.

Hearing the stuff about the ambulance being gone and the defibrillators perhaps not even working makes me sick. What a gong show of a league.

I think that if the hit injured the lungs or the diaphragm, the heart might stop. A loss of breath can cause the circulation to stop, but it is possible to breathe without having a pulse. That's why the athletic therapists have to check first the level of consciousness, then the breathing and then the circulation. Therefore, if indeed he had lost breathing and they weren't able to make him breathe, they would never have been able to restore circulation. If not due to not-breathing, it could be due to multiple reason such as internal shock...anyways...

R.I.P. Alexei, my thoughts are with you and your family during this darkest hour...

It should be considered as a crime. Or as a regular negligence of russian's remote. Medical stuff that arrived to the arena didn't even have electroshock equipment. Regular means - shots of adrenalin and massage of chest area - did not help. They started it up 5 times. Once he even regained consciousness and started to recognize his teammates. Then - out again. By that time his heart was not beating for 15 minutes...
Jagr was stunned in the locker room and stayed there with his uniform on...

Wow even at this time, RDS is still showing the Als on it's main news link... No respect for important news, this is pathetic...

Wow...I just read this on TSN and my mouth literally dropped. It is a horrible shame for something like this to happen at such a young age.

R.I.P.

I'm utterly speechless. Prayers go out to his friends and family and Jagr. That's gotta be devastating for Jagr to have that happen to somebody he collided with innocently.

Really makes you realize how lucky we are in North America with regards to the level of medical care available and what's considered standard.

I may get flamed for this, but RDS pretty much doesn't give a **** unless it's the Habs or a Quebec born player involved on the hockey side.

Well, I joined you and blasted them...

Hopefully I'll get a reaction from them...

Haha true. I'm from Quebec, French and bilingual so no offense to Quebecers for what I'm about to say, but I love how most people only care about Quebec born players on the RDS talkbacks, the best being when they think anyone with a French name is from Quebec, like "Marleau being the big French impact centre we need", not realizing he was born in SK... classic stuff...

Anyways we may be heading off on another topic here.. we should stick to the serious stuff, once again R.I.P Alexei...
