Exactly. How did we end up with Quinsey, Gauthier and O'Donnell instead of McLaren, Scheidner and Malik...? I have to question that....

I knew we had to suck this bad last year and probably this year but they can't even score any goals or play defense...and Labarera let in a few softies in the both games....

1-0 loss to one of the best teams in the league, cant play defense?

Labarbera has a .933 save percentage.

Don't you think your over reacting a tad?

Very good pick up for you guys, but he was not the best d-man in the 2007 playoffs as someone had stated, he was however good and held his own.

Quincey at his best (If he makes it) can be a good top-4 and a similar player to Danny Markov, but it should be noted that lately he has not been looking good.

Yeah, maybe....He allowed 4 goals in 2 games and 2 he probably should've had.

One can never overlook the fact that virtually any player who comes out of Detroit, regardless of their skill, have had a very strong work ethic and commitment to team play ingrained in them. Detroit does this throughout the entire organization and is one of the main reasons they are consistently awesome, whoever they call up or add to the roster. I'm willing to give anyone they thought good enough to give minutes and development time to a fair chance. I haven't seen much of Quincey except for last years playoffs, but I his name is not synonymous with anything bad so far as I know.

I also doubt Gauthier gets waived this season unless we make a trade.

So are you saying that in 2 games with the sharks they only should have scored 2 goals? I would consider that just about elite in terms of defense...

I get what your saying, but its way to early to be saying it.

Unless we pick up McLaren there's no need to waive anyone...

I will take 2gpg against the Sharks with our youngish defense any day, regardless of how they go in. I'm sure Lab would want some of them back, but that happens to all goalies. Jason made a ton of saves in the first game that made up for it, imo.

I say we put a Johnson jersey on him and keep this whole injury thing real quiet...then, on Thursday, we take Rutherford aside and give him "Johnson"...and get Gleason back...

Thoughts?

Wilson's original asking price for McLaren was too high, and when Dean knew Quincy was going to come available (GMs tend to prognosticate this stuff better than we do), he decided to go the route of "guy that under Terry Murray teachings could possibly stick around"

Schneider wants a paycheck. That's it. Lassez-faire. Just wants to play out his deal and retire. You need someone with more competitive spirit at this point in their career to be a role model for the kids. SOD is almost perfect for this role. I think SOD will end up coaching in three or four years.

Malik is TERRIBLE and wanted to get paid Danny Markov money. He would have been pretty much useless and not really an upgrade from Gauthier (seriously). His nasty streak is nil, he wouldn't offer anything for the kids. No way, no how, no Malik.

I don't have the time to read all 93 posts.

Did anyone use the term "dumpster diving?"

I do not think so....but in this case I do not think that is an accurate description. If the Kings did not claim Quincey I am sure another team would have (even a playoff contender). I consider dumpster diving when a team claims a player that pretty much every other team would pass on.

But honestly when have we ever really gone dumpster diving? All of the guys that DT grabbed latched on with other and better teams after they moved on, except for Steve Heinze who retired after his time in L.A.

I agree deeker - Nothing to win this year? Well how about the playoffs? Were not asking for the Stanley Cup here. Don't give me that crap about who cares if we get in the playoffs were not going to win the cup anyway. Top 5 picks in the draft each year is great but year after year?

Well I don't really know the guy, but there's at least one positive:

He and O'Sullivan are really good friends, and have played together for 3 years.
