God damn it. Wouldn't be a Kings season without a big "**** you Kings fans" from life I guess.

an injury to the labrum is a terrible injury to get for athletes. These aren't like broken bones that heal, ligaments and cartilage never get back to 100%. From the sounds of it, sounds like Johnson got a dislocated shoulder, it took me 6 months to get back into sports after my shoulder surgery and I've already dislocated both of my shoulders after the surgery. Professional athletes always come back a lot faster, but at what cost. Not like this year is going to be an important year anyways...

I'll chime in just cause I want to lol.. I did my last doing bench press with dumbells.. My first time on the opposite shoulder was from throwing a hit to a guy cutting across the middle... on his way down his stick pulled out one of my feet and my arms went in the air and I landed in a poor position.. A couple friends have had the surgery from similar hockey falls/hits and my cousin had it recently done as well (a baseball pitcher).. I'd be extremely surprised if he's back before March if they don't rush him..

It doesn't sound like he dislocated it though which is a good thing.. I've actually never met someone who has dislocated it either; just the SLAP tear which helps the healing with the ligaments around the area still being strong..

What do you mean? you guys have Teubert and Hickey on the way.

I respectfully disagree because now Jack's development may suffer a serious setback. Part of the reason it wasn't about this season is because the prospects were supposed to develop this year. If they haven't grown, it won't be about next year either.

LOL....

Messing around with "Hulking War Machine" (the world's most dangerous Mexican) after a Kings-Hawks game about 5 years ago at Staples....he pulled my jersey over my head and I cocked my arm back, felt a slight pop but didn't think much of it. Then about 3 weeks later it was sore when I would lift it. I kept playing and doing everything normally without getting it looked at. 5 years later and 5 cortisone injections later, I finally had an MRI that showed the damage.

Heh, you'd think I would be one after following this team for so long, but no. Just a high threshold for pain and unwillingness to go to the doctor

Do we have any history with this injury with other players? On Kings? Other teams? Some examples of how other players have recovered or not done so would help.

Chara and Lecavalier both went through it and are back in the lineup, as is Shawn Horcoff for the Oil. Ryan Parent of the Flyers is going through rehab right now on it.

Wow...3 out of those 4 guys turned out to be great hockey players so this may actually HELP Jack's game, eh? Right? Anyone?

ya, im not sure what he did, but the reason why i think it's a possibility is cuase they said "partial tear of the labrum". My dislocated shoulders were bankart lesions, which is bsaically when the labrum of the shoulder joint is torn. plus, with the way it was described by Murray, it's very plausible that the collision dislocated his shoulder. If I were in that same situation, I KNOW my shoulder would pop out of their sockets, or at least one of them

Either way, it blows and is bad on any athlete's career. Fixing it before he tears more will probably add a lot mroe stability then I had coming out of surgery though.

Just goes to show you-don't man wrestle with Hulking and you'll be fine. He's a menace to society.

I was more concerned about the longer healing time aspect.

Chara went through the playoffs with the injury and only had surgery after.

He'll be fine....he's a kid and he'll heal well. It also doesn't hurt things that he'll have one of the best orthopods in the world performing the surgery.
