He's ok... but he should stop calling players by their first names.
"Guillaume a fait une belle passe à Saku, et Sergei a pris le retour."
The only ones he calls by their first names are Latendresse (He's the mascot of the french media, their loved one, their savior...), Koivu (He played with him) and Sergei Kostitsyn (Because of has a brother).
Pednault had how many years of experience, yet made as much insipid comments or blunders as Brunet.
As for his speaking, well he's partnered with Pierre "Monsieur Diction" Houde who gave voice and pronunciation (??) lessons to about each and every effin' francophone tv, radio or political figure around Montreal.. He'll only get better.
he's got ZERO personality - ZERO voice - ZILCH NADDA
Brunet is a "low profile" under the radar type of guy - defensive, calculated etc...
that's not what you want from a color commentator! Please don't tell me that Brunet understands the game better than xyz... come on, the guy repeats the same crap over and over!
the fact that we have to put up with this shmuck for the rest of the year, the 100th, is p a t h e t i q u e , as they say in french.
Pednault, call him what you want, but at least he had PERSONALITY.
I like Brunet...way more than Pednault. Two years ago, I was a fan of that old timer, but last year, that was it. He wasn't even able to say Kostitsyn right!!!
Sure Brunet don't have the personality of Pednault, but at least, he don't scream all the time, he breaths and he's funny. I like the fact that Brunet sound like a friend of the players (from time to time).
Anyways, I think most of you that don't like him now will ending up liking the guy. He's just starting...
I'll concentrate on the positives:
-because he was a player, he's aware of things that weren't mentioned in the old regime.
-the tone of the broadcast is generally lighter and more positive.
-he's still in a formative stage and there's room for improvement.
