Yikes, in 1983-84
Rangers final record: 42-29-9: 93 pts
4th in the Patrick Division
7th in the Prince of Wales Conference
Lost in first round to the Islanders

Goes to show how little a good start means. Gotta keep on pushing, 5-0 means nothing.

I believe that would be never. I'm pretty sure I read that 5-0 is the best start the Rangers have ever had.

Here are the top songs from October 1983:

1. "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" - Bonnie Tyler
2. "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" - Air Supply
3. "True" - Spandau Ballet
4. "Islands In The Stream" - Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton
5. "King Of Pain" - Police
6. "One Thing Leads To Another" - The Fixx
7. "The Safety Dance" - Men Without Hats
8. "All Night Long" - Lionel Richie
9. "Tell Her About It" - Billy Joel
10. "(She's) Sexy + 17" - Stray Cats

And PruBlue25, you weren't born 1 year after the Rangers were 5-0, you were born in the exact same month they were 5-0.

Love those 80s tunes!

Let's take a look at some things from tv in that time period in 1983:

Plinko is added as a Pricing Game on The Price Is Right; it will become one of the most popular of all the show's games.

Michael Jackson steals the show by singing and dancing to his hit single "Billie Jean" and performing for the first time his "moonwalk" dance .

Fraggle Rock, a Jim Henson production, debuts on HBO (1983–1987).

The A-Team debuts on NBC (1983–1987).

Webster debuts on ABC (1983–1989).

The daytime game show Press Your Luck premieres on CBS (1983–1986).

Haha, some good stuff around then!

I was 10 -- I would love to see some of the guys who were not born yet play the hockey video games that were around then -- 3 on 3 stick figures.

Hey, no one dares dissing the 80's music! It was 20 times better than the crap they produce nowadays. Just watch those lists and compare them to... a 60 year old Madonna? Britney Spears? Christina Aguilera? Justin Timberlake?

Jesus... music today truly sucks and is all about the visual and style, nothing about the actual audio. And in the 80's, MTV actually showed music videos.

The 80's had synths, the 20th century has robotic distorted voices to cover up how awful the pretty, sexy singer actually sings.

Back then (well at least in the late 80's/early 90s) people never categorized standings by Conference. It was only by division as the playoffs were:
1st place in Division vs. 4th place in Division
2nd place in Division vs. 3rd place in Division

Funny thing about gas - I remember around $0.75 a few years later (1986 - in April). Boy would that be nice.
Yeah, gas was under a buck in the late 80s - early 90s, which was good because I was poor back then

Many may not think about this, but this was just revolutionary at the time. The way the crowd reacted the first time he did that dance..the guy was just the best there was. Too bad he became...well, whatever it is he is now.

Unfortunately the YouTube nazis took it down, but that Motown 25 performance is awesome to look back at.

Before MJ lost his soul. His old music is awesome, I don't care what kind of music you like, you can't diss Michael's old stuff.

True or False: At least one player from that 1983-84 team played on the 1991-92 or 1993-94 teams.

James Patrick. Though he was traded during the '93-'94 season. I can't think of anyone else and I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

Couldn't agree more with this, the music nowadays is brutal Britney, Christina and Beyonce all sound like someone is strangling a cat its just torture, on top of that you have crap like the *****cat dolls who cant sing a note but get away with it because they are hot.

There is only 2 bands i can say i listen too now and thats Oasis and the Kings of Leon the rest is pretty much just ****, Over here in Britain we have crackheads like Amy Winehouse and Pete Docherty who have become pop stars because they are never out the paper for just being out their **** on drugs.

They dont make music like they used to and you can go back further than the 80's into the 0's and 70's to listen to stuff that is far superior to the garbage we are subjected to now.
