How about Petr Prucha? He's got talent, but he's terribly miscast in a bottom six role. Does Ott play center and wing? What about his cap hit? Prucha's about 1.6$

The Leafs will offer you Matt Stajan and Ian White for Prucha and a 3rd round pick.

Ott has a cap hit of $1.5 and is signed through next season. He plays left wing most of the time.

I believe that if Dallas trades Boucher, it will be for a more imposing and defensive defenseman.

He can play center, and he is one of Dallas' better faceoff guys.

I wouldn't mind Boucher on Ottawa and shoving Lee back down into the minors. What are Dallas' needs right now?

Cap relief (for when Zubov is back off LTIR), a right shot forward (prefer a center who can take faceoffs and maybe play the PP), a steady, veteran defender.

Making a trade is only one option. I hope Les Jackson can figure it out without a trade, but if he can't, Boucher or Ott could be traded. There are other trade options though.

Ott and Boucher for Knuble and Vaananen or Alberts

Flyers improve defence as offensive is more of a strength and vice-versa. No cap difficulties as cap hits are the same and all contracts expire this year. Basicly just improving the balance of both teams.

Actually it'd be for a younger defenseman that is cheaper then him.

I'm not familiar with Schubert, but I have noticed that more than a few Sens fans will put him in a proposal and then say he is terrible.

What is your opinion of his play?

Regarding Neil, I believe Dallas would rather just have Ott. He's 3-4 years younger, and pretty much plays the same game. Besides, I still hold a sliver of hope that Ott can become a consistent 15-20 goal scorer and 30-40 points.

Is Ott good at faceoffs? As an Oilers fan, I'd offer something like Staios and a prospect.

The Oilers could use some sandpaper guys like Ott (I'm not a huge fan of pure goons like Steve MacIntyre) especially if he's good at faceoffs. A purely defensive defenseman like Boucher is the one thing I think the Oilers are missing. Staios is good, but I'm guessing he's as good as gone in a year, so I'd be willing to send him to Dallas.

Staios makes more money than Boucher, and Boucher scored 19 goals a year ago. No way.

We don't need an agitator/enforcer back for Ott. We have *gulp* Avery and Barch. Nor do we need another winger past his prime or young/bottom pairing D-man.

Ideally, Dallas would hope to get either a strong 2nd pair defensive defenseman with some physical prowess (a few more years experience in the league would be great), or a serviceable 1st/2nd line right shot forward, but that may not be doable with just Boucher and Ott.

Dallas would also ideally like to shed some salary, as Boucher + Ott is about 4 (duhr cannot add) million for the rest of the season (edit: making it slightly harder to move parts around to get the machine rolling). And looking at nhlnumbers... well I can't really find a good place to put Boucher and Ott.

Boucher is also a UFA next season, and is currently healthy, whether or not he will stay that way, is uncertain.

In short, we have a now healthy veteran offensive UFA to be d-man, and a young, scrappy, more well rounded agitator for trade.

I also highly suspect that neither will be moved this season for players, and Boucher will be allowed to walk at the end of the season.

Ott for Stajan? I'm all over this like a mod on a fakepost.

Stajan's cap hit is $1.75 million compared to Ott's $1.425 million. Even a $300,000 increase would force Dallas to clear more space to afford him.

We’re barely a week into the season and Boucher + Ott's cap hit is closer to $4 million ($2.5 million + $1.425 million).

stars fans please note - stajan cant make the maple leafs. You do not want him in exchange for ott.

to Big44, schubert is a hard hitting defenceman with a hard shot and no head. A team like dallas, with good coaching and some experienced guys ahead of him, would be perfect. He's getting the short end of the stick in ottawa because he can play forward too, and they love how he forchecks. He plays on our pk whenever a defenceman (phillips, volchenkov, smith, or kuba) is in the box.

I really dont know what kind of team is looking for an ott-boucher package. Jaime Langenbrunner for ott and boucher anyone? (NJ likely says no)

I would love Ott on Vancouver. Would they be willing to take back a project d-man and a pick for him? Say Lawrence Nycholat (550k cap hit) and a 3rd?

I would over pay for Ott.

What does Dallas need? Prospects? Youth?
