I'll say this, I have no problem with holding auditions. Open competition is for the best, and I think Harry will still end up being our best option. However, I think it lacks tact to just do it arbitrarily without contacting him first to let him know. To put it in hockey terms, it'd be like Gainey traded Koivu or some other long-term Hab and let him find out via the news.
What should have been a celebration of competition for the betterment of the community has been degraded into a big slap in the face of a much more significant contributor to this board than myself and many others.

I don't think I have the time to do GDTs on a regular basis, but I thought I'd post this one I did last year. It's light on information compared to a lot of them but I thought it looked alright.

Maybe we could give Harry some sort of ceremonial title and fake responsibilities (Grand Poobah of HTML, for instance) for his services, so he won't feel left out. Kinda like what you guys did for me last year.
BTW, Harry did a great job last year.

This is becoming stupid. Harry's explained his absence, he's been doing it for years now. If he can't make one, someone else will put one up the day of. If you want to critique his GDT, then comment in the GDT & send him graphics.
I was under the impression that Harry didn't want to do it anymore from the OP.
Let Harry keep making them & give him **** when they suck or if we lose.

No offense to you, but I just thought of it after seeing your post.
Can we not have something that has enormous graphics that actually contain information? It makes it impossible/expensive for mobile users to view the GDT properly.
Why don't we give the home and playoff games to HarryI so he has ample time to do them every game and let someone else do the away games? I think HarryI has put in enough work over the years to remain as the main GDT guy.
(btw, on a serious note, I support Harry based on his proven reliability over the last 2 years, although some better graphics wouldn't hurt)

Sorry that agenda is already taken care of by creationnists. They are blaming it all on the theory of evolution and "by it all" I mean communism, rock and roll, homosexuality, etc.
On another note... we've also realized its impractical to count on one person to do everything.... as evidenced by harry missing a couple games... it would be nice to have two people to split the duties...
One to do Home games... one to do road games so we try to get a 50/50 split and not a starter/backup role as we feel both people will be important.
And with 2 people if you aren't available to do one (vacation, exams, etc....) you can get the other person to do it.
The most important thing will be reliability and second will be the artwork. I also think a situation where one person post up GDTs (doing all the facts and stat research) but using anothers help with artwork and designs could work as Harry has made it work in the past.
This is not a slight to Harry at all... I'd have to put him as an early leader to continue in the role.... but there is no reason why we can't explore making the GDTs better.

just an idea......why dont you let harry do the the gdts for the next week or 2 and then decide if he should be replaced......if he shows that he can continue on making gr8 gdts than keep him and if not than have a poll or somehting like that
