McGuire on CKAC said that both Lucic and Thornton talked about the respect that Laraque deserves. Seems that Thornton said that he's already meet Laraque in the minors and that he had no problem going at it again.
i'm hoping the *****-twins lucic and thornton meet laraque's left hand. i expect the ruins to be a tad quieter tonight
Wow...are the Bruins still upset about Begin's crosscheck? Jesus Christ. You'd think Begin decapitated him with his skate the way they go on and on about it.

They have to hold to something to be angry about. You would have thought that while Bégin's crosscheck was dirty, that it would have been solved by him dropping it and even losing badly that battle but still fighting for it....but then no.....It's never good enough..
Until Boston has finally a good team and really starts playing hockey, then they might concentrate on this. Until then, it's who wins a fight and who crosschecks who....

Yeah, that's exactly it. Begin answered the bell, took his lumps, and that should be that. But no, they still yammer on about it like it's the greatest tragedy to ever occur in the history of hockey. I understand there are plans to rename the Masterson to the Savard in honor of his tremendous courage shown by bouncing back from such a life-threatening injury (after which he missed 8 games I believe).
I know that Thornton, while playing with the Hawks, fought Laraque when he was with the Oilers and actually Thornton had the best of the 1st fight during that game. But then they had another one and it didn't went as well for him.....
Thornton seems like the guy who'll back it up....we'll see about that tonight.
They've fought 3 times and Laraque won twice. Thornton actually won the most recent fight, but that was four years ago I think. Laraque beat him pretty decisively in their first meeting and got the best of him the second time around but Thornton got the upper hand the last time they fought.
Come on guys... the strategy hasn't change. The game plan should still be using our speed and offensive talent against their very slow defense. Preventing them from setting up the trap and, of course, humiliating them on the scoring sheet.
BGL is there to prevent them from gooning it up in the 3rd (or any time in the game, just like Phily). He's not here to provoke anything and the best thing that could happen tonight is a clean victory without any cheap shots or fighting...
I mean if Lucic is too liberal with his elbow (especially on Markov), I sure hope BGL will send him a message, other than that, he's not here to start a fight.
I just have to say that both boards crack me up with this stuff.
If BGL was wearing a Spoked B you guys would be completely nuts over what a maggot he may be. If Lucic was wearing the Habs crest he'd be the second coming of John Ferguson.
And the B's fans would be doing the opposite.

I don't agree with your first statement (BGL) but I definitely agree with your second statement (Lucic).

Actually, I think it's more like when Boston loses that goon mentality, maybe their team will amount to something.

Bizarro world.
Just my opinion.
Lucic could play on my team. I was going to post about how the 2 teams have differed in philosophy over having tough guys, over the years. The B's always preferred to have a real presence and preferably more than one.
The Hbas have always been more reactionnary. In the 60's they thought they were getting pushed around, so in comes, Harper,Harris and Fergy.
In the 70's a bunch of guys are brought in, Chartraw,Lambert, Lupien etc.
10 years later, Nilan, then Kordic. They always seem to want to get away from it, then react when necessary. It's been over 40 years on the same cycle it seems.

Although hockey fights may give a vicarious thrill to some fans who wouldn't dare to throw a punch, they slow down the game and resolve nothing once they're over and done with. If BGL's mere presence inhibits crease crashing and cheap shots by Bruins forwards, that's good enough nor me.
LOL he is actually the premiere enforcer in the whole league, and that is the very reason why he doesn't need to fight as much as others - opposing players tend to behave themselves more when he is around.
actually i dont think so. there are many people i would rather have as my enforcer to be honest. I would take an Orr or a King over him any day of the week. Boogard and orr have punching power that hurt people..
