Brisebois was solid tonight.

Kostopoulos is a monster.

he was decent, Ill give you that, but solid is way to big a word.

...did you see that between the leg thing he did in our own zone???
I was sitting in the grey and I was freaking out how noone else noticed.
he blindly shot the puck into the slot on his backhand

I think it's also important to note that we don't have our full lineup yet. Higgins and Bouillon are still important enough that they change the dynamic on this team.

It's only been 4 games. I'm just anxious to see what our team looks like with a full healthy lineup.

I can't say I'm too happy with this game, although the Habs did badly outchance them. I just can't see any reason to give up a point to a conference rival when you're up 3-0, freak bounce or not. They laid back way too much in the last 30.

I'm also very unhappy with Komi's bad penalty on the PK. Carbo should be pissed about that. If not for that play, the Habs cruise to victory, IMO.

It was fantastic because there weren't any Bruins out there to intercept the pass, but it was still a blind pass right in the slot...

I'm no hockey expert but I think that Andrei Kostitsyn will reach his full potential playing on the right wing on his own line... where he's the go-to guy...

Huh... don't you remember the awesome saves Thomas made in the 2nd period to keep the Bruins in the game? He was incredible! No Thomas no tight game...

I think you're overreacting about the effects of losing the home opener... It's a super long season and there will be plenty of ups and downs during the season... Chill and enjoy the long season...

Anytime you give a point to the division rivals when you could have held them to none, its obvious you made a boboo. I hope its a lesson learned and one that don't need to be reminded.

The Koivu line is desperate for a finisher and Lats is not the answer.

Not only Komisarek, but all these penalties killed the momemtum the guys were building in the beginning of the third. These useless penalties need to stop.

He actually, at least I think, looked before he passed.

Aside from that, he blocked a huge shot near the end of the 3rd period.. as well as another shot.. and he even had a pretty decent hit.

5 points in 4 games now. 12th in the league.

How much better would you expect Higgins (or anyone else) to perform?

Exactly... we lost the home opener last year... we often lose the home opener.

And i really understand when you sau the atmosphere was not impressive. Everytime the Bruins score, the crowd was very loud chanting GO HABS GO. I dunno, maybe on the Reds it was more quiet but it was very loud where i was.
although the view is awesome in the reds, the atmosphere sucks. Practically nobody chants and you end up feeling foolish doing it on your own.

So yeah, was probably due to me being in the reds. I was disappointed

Although we escaped with a win, this game was very disappointing. Speed is our strength, we don't necessarily "excel" at hitting or shooting. As soon as they slow down and lose their intensity, they are in big trouble. When they're strong on the forecheck and use their speed, they dominate, slow down for one period and they can lose the game no matter how ahead they are.

just re-watched the ring of honor...basically wanted to see Lach and Bouchard.
what a great moment.
Lach with the tears in his eyes and when butch bouchard got up, the crowd went nuts.

I think that tonight was much more than a normal home opener.

It was the 100th year.

All the CH greats were in the rink, in their uniforms...all around the Ring of Honour.

The expectation/anticipation for Stanley Cup is overwhelming with the fans, the media, the players (this could be a double egded sword if not careful)

It was the 1st appearance for the much anticipated Big Georges Laraques' coming out party!

The crowd was pumped!

The players were pumped and they started the game that way.

But then for some reason CH went into their defensive mode...again just like last year.

Winners smell blood and have to go for the jugular and finish them off but curiously, Carbo has this defensive mentality that takes over when the team gets a lead...my only explanation is that this trait comes from Carbo's days as a player.

I thought that Carbo fixed this last Saturday against the Leafs but perhaps Cherry's and Craig Simpson's criticisms have unnerved Carbo...but there is a difference between being up 6 goals as opposed to 3 goals.

Had we lost that game, the psychology of the team and the fans and the media would have turned very ugly, very quickly and this is kind of turning point that makes or breaks a team.

If this sort of thing happens again then it's the coach's fault.

I am in NO way in favour of Claude Julien as a coach over Carbo but what Julien showed tonight was that he can instill character into his team and almost willed a team into a victory from an impossible position. Whereas Carbo showed that he could take a completely victorious situation and turn it into a near disaster...the anti-Julien as a coach.

This would also have had a tremendous psychological impact to the B's as well...actually, too late! I think now the B's know that even if they go down 3 goals against Montreal, they can come back so in the future, CH just made their jobs that much harder for themselves.

This cannot and must not happen again, esp. in important games and in playoffs if there is any hope of drinking from that Cup!
