Tom Kostopoulos Appreciation Thread

I know we probably aren't supposed to have Appreciation Threads for players because if we had one for every player, it'd get really crowded around here.

However, on the same note, if anyone deserves one, it's Tom Kostopoulos. He's been absolutely incredible so far this season. He hits, he blocks shots, he's been stellar on the PK.. just does so many of the little things right.

I hope Kostopoulos can play 70+ games because I truly believe he will be our unsung hero at season's end.

I agree. Kostopoulos has been the only lock for the 4th line for me.

Dandenault is second.

I hate seeing him on the 3rd line. But I do like the way he plays, should be interesting to see if he's back next year.

He's been a MONSTER thus far!!
Really enjoying his play!
If he had a little more finish, it would be amazing!

Right now the 3rd line has a great mix to it!

Grinder - Scorer - Playmaker

I hipe he plays at least 60 games with time on the 3rd & 4th line!!

looking at the way sergei and lang are playing....higgins will have the same kind of role that Kostopoulos has...in the sense...energy strong forechechking but obvisouly there will be more offensive upside but whoever is playing with those two will have an in your face role...imo

He's not to the level of Lats and Higgins but he's filled in ok on the 3rd line playing with intensity and energy. To me he is definitely ahead of Dandenault and Begin.

To me, Begin looks slow and already bang up!

Nonstopolous has been nothing short of awesome this year. He won't put up a ton of points, but he is a guy that does all the little things right. He's definitely an ideal 4th liner in my opinion.

I'm just not sure that he would be affectif on the left side from a transition point of view. Guy will find a spot for him.

His shot blocking is A1, but at times he panics with the puck in the D zone and chucks it rather than being composed and it causes some turn overs.

I'm sure he's just nervous with that part of his game....but overall he's a warrior.

He's got heart, passion and bravery, but he can't play on a scoring line!

I loved Costaudpolice last year and I still do. And I love him even more after his joke we saw on the jumbotron last night..

"Who is your favorite actor, Van Damne, Seagal or Chuck Norris?"

"When Chuck Norris jumps in a pool of water he doesn't get wet, the water gets Norrissed LOL"

he's so out of place on the 3rd line but he's doing a great job for his limited capabilities...

I've said all summer that i wanted a Laraque-Chipchura-Lappierre line, and i still do, but for this year i think NOW we are mutch better off with Kostopoulos-Lappierre-Laraque. Kost is playing for a contract next summer and he sure is off to a great start, but i still don't think he'l be sticking around after this season, sooner or later Kyle chipchura will have to play or else he'l just demand a trade and the potential defensively is just too high to lose him, especially on a team that's mostly purely offensive right now.

But yes, this thread is well diserved

It'd have to be ripped, stained and soiled in blood.

he plays well, he got nailed 3-4 times yesterday tho..

he'll be good on the 4th line, I don't want to see him on the 3rd again.

Kostopolos will get thrown under the NHL cap bus, he has too.
Gainey will need ALL the cap space he can get. Add to this lots of talent in Hamilton. Kostopolos is done, much the same as dandy and maybe even Boullion and Begin.

Don't be so sure, he is probably cheaper than most of our prospects would be. Plus, he won't get a raise and will probably want to stay on a good team playing for a coach who likes him alot.

If you got goals and assists for executing your role withing the team, then kostopoulos had a 4 point night against boston. He was my unsung hero of the match

Some of those guys have to go... but I don't think you dump all of them and go with all prospects at once.... Let Dandenault, Begin, Bouillion go.... Kosto can stay.

you need some of your energy players to be veterans and Kosto is the best of the bunch.

Nonstopolous is the kind of horse we lacked right up until the Carbonneau era. I hope he stays with the Habs a long time.

Exactly. The one you keep around is Kostopoulos. Not only is he the best player of the bunch, but he works hard, is cheap and is a good character to have around. Like you said, I expect to see Kostopoulos to stay before players like Bouillion, Begin and Dandenault. Resign him Bob for $800K; with the Cullimore and Salmenien(no idea how to spell that) buyouts of the books that gives Bob $750K free to resign Kostopoulos.
