yikes.
11 PP chances for Colorado?
outshot 17-3 in the first period? just ridiculous.
boggles my mind how this team can continually come out not ready to play.
this is a trend that is all to familiar unfortunatly.
Knuble really needs to go.
like yesterday.
The refs last nigth were atrocious. They were doing everything except letting them play hockey, and were simply calling everything. And as far as the 17-3 ratio in the first period, would it be surprising to know that the Avs got 2 PP in the first 5 minutes of play? It seriously felt like a Pens game.
I'm not sure if anyone saw it, but Coatsy interviewed Sbisa after the game, and he mad some really good points. He pretty much was saying how constantly being on the PK was effecting their transition with the 5-on-5 play, and I can see how it would.

The refs were overzealous but that's no excuse. It's not just taking penalties but taking absolute stupid penalties. Sbisa looked like an 18 year old last night,

looking at the box score I see that other then the 4 straight PP chances the Flyers in the 2nd the Flyers had a grand total of 5:30 of PP time. one of those PP came when the game was allready decided.
awesome.

I've been having great trouble with that. They keep taking them down or disabling embedding.

We had our PP chances too. Yeah, it was ridiculous the Avs had 11 powerplays, but it's not like we don't have the ability to be good on specials teams and win games either way.

Granted, this team is, on paper, arguably the best in the conference. Nevertheless, when you have piss poor efforts you lose no matter who you are. When you have such a stacked lineup and start this poorly something has to be done.

Will this team miss the playoffs- probably not
Is this a disconcerting start- absolutely

As I've said before, this could wind up being a blessing in disguise. If we played poorly and won it would come back to bite us late. Hopefully this poor start serves as a wakeup call and we stop trying to win on talent alone
It could be, their weaknesses are being exposed with more than enough time to do something about them.

I think it is time to mix it up a bit

1. Call up giroux. he might not have proved much in preseason but he has the talent and could help the team
--or nodl juust someone
2. Fire Stevens- everyone knows

not the most skilled guy but he played with a ton of heart. There is no lack in skill on this team, but we have lost of ton of character with the absence of umberger, hatcher, and smith.

fixed.

Sure losing Umberger hurts, but the loss in leadership that Kappy, Hatch and Smith provided is definitely something this team is struggling with at the moment.
