Comrie to Chicago (e2)

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklun...Rumour/1/17340

e1: Fox Sports Radio
e2: Chicago Blackhawks message boards

Comrie makes $4mil and is not as good as Lang at $4mil. Not only would this move make Tallon look extremely bad, but it can't happen unless Khabibulin or Huet are unloaded. The Islanders obviously wouldn't want either, and I don't think Tallon has the gusto to put either one in the AHL.

So, 3 way deal or Eklund BS?

I was about to post some smartass comment about how it's just some fan who called in a radio show and another one who posted about it on a message board to ridicule Eklund so-called sources but when I click on your link, I see no mention of Fox Sport or a message board. Am I blind or what's going on?

Think of it this way: if DiPietro is really hurt and it's going to be a "most of the season" thing [from what I gather, even Isles fans don't know what to think on this front], then the Islanders will be looking for someone in net - and MacDonald is not the solution for the entire season. The Hawks get a chance to dump Khabibulin off on the Islanders, and take back Comrie in return. Both players are on 1-year deals and thus there's no future obligation on either side.

The only question that really doesn't make sense is why the Isles would want to get rid of Comrie - but we're talking about the Isles here; sadly, logic need not apply while Wang and Snow are calling the shots.

So trading the only offensive threat they have will benefit them how?

Comrie would only come to Chicago if Savard was fired...this is it people, Eklund will have a 10 correct prediction streak now.

Haven't heard anything about this in Islanderville, where Eklund isn't taken seriously.

As for the thought behind the rumor, Comrie isn't necessarily "stuck" on the third line, where he has 3 points in 4 games (his usual pace). The team is rolling 4 fairly balanced lines, all of which are expected to play the coach Gordon's system.

For those thinking the Bulin' wall could be considered by the Islanders, MacDonald is doing just fine as a stopgap until Dipietro is ready to play again, even if folks shouldn't expect the same high level of play from Dipietro that he provided for the first 50 games last season, coming off of two summer operations. If Khabibulin were earning 2 million per, it might be another story.

True is also that Lang and Comrie earn similar money and it'd make little sense for Chicago to take on the same contract for such a similar player, speaking generally.

As a last consideration, Comrie would likely bring the Islanders a bit more at the trade deadline than he would now. Of course, if Chitown wants to part with next summer's first rounder ....

Comrie good;

Two good goalies to back one another up, and keep the pressure on for the number one spot better!

Hell, I'll take Comrie on the 'Hawks! How is this a bad move, the guy is decent and he is better than Lang for one year.

Dipietro is day-to-day. The organization has not been all that forthright, but he should be back soon.

http://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey...,7977162.story

Having been through an opener, a home opener and a clunker, the Islanders are upbeat about the fact it still is really early. So early, in fact, that they seem ready for something of a re-opener.

That is how it will feel for them once their franchise player plays this season for the first time, and that appears imminent. Rick DiPietro was comfortable during a full practice yesterday and optimistic after it. If he does not start against the Lightning in Tampa Bay tonight, it appears a good bet that he will play in Florida Saturday.

Either way, given that the Isles did not put a claim for the Bulin wall when he was on waivers, I doubt they'd trade for him now.

I see no evidence they are looking to move Comrie either, who has actually been pretty effective so far this season.

There is nothing to this typical Eklund stupidity.

Heh, I want him off this team so badly. I have no clue how he gets the points he does. He is beyond lazy, has the worst shot known to man and hesitates with everything he does. His positive is he is VERY sneaky, but I'm surprised it has taken him so far.

I've never been a Comrie fan myself but you are way overstating his flaws.

Anyway, the entire conversation is a silly. Comrie is not going anywhere - at least until the deadline.

I mean that keeping Lang who had 1 year to build chemistry with the team makes more sense to keep than dealing him just to pick up Comrie.

This was posted by a fan on the Hawks boards after hearing this rumor on Fox Sports radio a day before Eklund posted it.
