The reporter probably just asked him what he thought about McDonagh and when asked, Turris probably mentioned the rumours.

He basically says that McDonaugh has the potential to be a top 2 D and that he skates like Scott Niedermeyer and that the habs would be crazy to want to trade a D with that much potential.

It's unclear from the article if a journalist told Turris about the rumors when he was being questioned or if he was told about them before.

"Turris a d'ailleurs sursauté lorsqu'on lui a indiqué que le nom de son bon ami circulait dans des rumeurs de transaction récemment."

Kyle Turris is awesome. UFA in 2015, start the rumours since he thinks so highly of McDonagh!

honestly this freakin' stuff is ********. gainey isn't going to deal macdonagh for a UFA or a rental at the deadline. not even a CHANCE. if there is a deal, the wild can chose from our other 7 minny prospects, including fisher

I agree. To think it would be both McDonough AND Higgins is lunacy unless Bouchard comes back.

''Ryan was my roommate last year. I can only say good things about him. The Canadiens should feel very fortunate to have him in their organization. He will become quite a defenceman in the NHL, a top pairing guy potentially.''

When asked about the lame Gaborik for Higgins/McDonagh rumour:

''Do not trade McDonagh! He can support the offence, he's good defensively and is perhaps the best skater I have been around. He skates like Scott Niedermayer, he's a graceful skater. He's very strong and a complete defenceman.''

''On top of being great on the ice, he's a great leader. He'll do anything for the team.''

On McDonagh being snubbed by the USA WJC team:

''I was in shock when I learned he wasn't on their team. I told myself the USA would be easier to beat without him. They'll fix their mistake this year and I wouldn't be surprised if he's their captain.''

I still don't understand why people get so worked up over rumors. There is like a new rumor everyday involving the Habs created by keyboard jockeys that don't know anything. Gainey is not an idiot and I trust him to not trade our top young players/prospects away in stupid deals.
