That's terrible, imo, a bad decision.

Careful with your punctuation! Your post could be taken to read that both Price and Halak would play against the Ducks. That would be bad.

Makes sense to me.

Halak needs the garbage games. Price needs the pressure games.

Price at 50-60 and Halak at 20-30 makes sense. They won't go 40/40 and Halak will not be playing teams like the Rangers, Penguins and Flyers, but he will get a lot of games against the Leafs, Panthers and Blues of the world.

Agreed.

Besides, I want Price fresh for the playoffs.

Dude...we're not fighting for our playoff lives. We have the luxury of managing assets thinking long term.....why should we not use it to our advantage?

I think Halak's going to get at least 20 starts this season.

Absolutely. And it has nothing to do with goalie controversy or keeping Price on his toes or any of that nonsense. Even though Price has the potential to be the type of goalie to play 75 games a season, why the hell would you want that? So his all-time stats look better? Eh. I'd rather a healthy, tireless Price playing 60 and being able to rely on a back-up goalie who can win games on his own accord.

Price is our number one. Period. That said, it doesn't make Price look bad to have Jaroslav Halak start a few games, even some back to back. People will try to create a controversy, but it just won't exist. Halak is fine with 20-30, and until a team has an opening, he'll do good being a back-up.

It's my hope this year that Montreal cracks 60 wins. If 40 were from Price and 20 from Halak? I'd be more than happy.

Damn lol 120 points not counting OT losses. Considering Detroit got 115 last season I think 120 is a bit optimistic.

I think 60 wins has only been done twice in history... Habs in 77 and Detroit in... 96?

It's not like Halak is incompetent, so I'm comfortable with this move. Better for him to get games against unlikely playoff opponents, than taking time away from Price to try and see how he matches up against Pittsburgh, Philly, Ottawa, etc.

Less chance of Carey being burnt out again come post-season time.

I'm ok with it. Halak needs and deserves to play after how he played and you can't leave him on the bench for too long and then expect good results. Both needs to stay sharp and being use properly.

Of course the week long break for Price is too bad but thats how our schedule is this week.

60 games for Price is enough this season. halak can easily handle the 22 others.

Simple, I want to pretect the streak, what's wrong with starting Price again next game to ensure we go 5-0-1? It's just a hunch that I have that is all.. that we might come out flat. This looked like an easy game too for Price but at one point the Yotes were all over us and had some very good scoring opportunities from in close. What if they had scored a goal and made it 2-1? Whole new game...

Higgins well, everyone knows his worth, he is a proven asset no need to show case him.

the Wild may have wanted McDo with Higgins but Gainey is offering Halak and Higgins, at least I think so.

If Halak plays Monday and gets a shutout it great for GAINEY.
This a joke?

The Wild have two great goaltenders in Backstrom and Harding.. I doubt they really want Halak.

People who keep saying we are going to trade Halak are bonkers.. there is not a good market for goaltenders.. It's just the way it is.

Halak is incredible at home.. what is his record there again?

Plus, you don't want to leave Halak on the bench for a full two weeks.. 9 days is bad enough, but 14 days is just too much for a goalie we will count on to play 30ish games.

Exactly?

Unless Florida comes out swinging with a near perfect game, and the Habs don't show up.. We *should* easily win this one for Jaro. Talent for Talent, its not even close.

Great, cause we own their 2nd round pick, so the lower they end up the higher our 2nd round pick will be!

Very true. Has he EVER lost in regulation at the Bell Center? I remember him losing 4-3 to the Blues in a SO, but in regulation?

After Monday we don't play again until Saturday, Halak hasn't played in a while. Carbo's stated numerous times he won't be letting either goalie sit for a long period of time, which makes sense.

A bit more of a vigourous practice week for both.
