Bonk & Smolinski were BAD, well maybe Bonk was okay considering the team we had then. I just don't think Lang has done anything special besides being 6'3" and being right-handed. So he's probably really useful for the team, just nothing special IMO. Or atleast he didn't yet show he was something special. He's got 3 goals/points and the third one was a given...

But anyways, it's too soon to tell.

Whoa I just noticed:

Markov is tied for the league lead in assists (8) with M. Koivu, Kariya and malkin. ALSO him and Captain Saku are tied for the league lead in +- (+7!!) and Komisarek is at +6 (5th).

Amazing! (yes I know we're only 5 games in haha)

I think you need to take a closer look at his game. He is very good in his zone and he's a very intelligent player. He helps a lot in the transition game because he wins a lot of one on one battles deep in his zone and he does a great job at finding the open man to start the rush. These little things are not always visible yet they are absolutely vital for the succes of a hockey team. Also, he's a very good goal scorer.

it took smolinski 34 games to score 3 goals.
it took bonk 50 games to score 3 goals

Lang ? 5 games.

All these little things are good but nothing special since most players on our team do the same. I also said BESIDES being 6'3"...of course that helps winning 1 on 1 battles and protecting the puck. He's got some pluses, and he's got some minuses.

Saying he's doing okay doesn't mean I wouldn't want him on the team.

Anyways I don't want to argue about it, we'll see in a few weeks.

Huh, who were they playing with? Did they get time on the PP?...That's what I thought.
Anyways, I talk about the present so keep talking about LANG.

I'm very surprised by Lang. I expected a PP specialist that didn't bring much energy but he is very involved in the play, a lot more skilled than I thought and he is smart offensively and defensively. He is miles ahead of any 3rd line center we had for the past 5-6 years (if not more).

Lang is performing as advertised, or better. It would have been too easy for him to come in here and put the cruise control on, rest on his laurels and know that he's our third center and doesn't have to give it 100%, but he's putting in the effort.

Just think about that fourth goal that Lang potted off the Winnik turnover. Now imagine Smolinski in that same situation. Is there any chance he buries that?

It's not too soon to say that Lang is way better than Smoke and Boink. Notice that the Hawks have stunk this year without him?

Guys, I missed the 3rd period, but just saw the helmet swap on the previous post.. it's hilarious! but did they explain why they did it afterwards??

Gotta love BGL... He did what he had to do...

From Cyberpresse.ca:
Laraque devenait fou

Yeah if for you less than 30 seconds a game is getting PP time...then he did get PP and that would mean Bonk also had PP time.

More than 2 minutes a game for Lang.

Anyways I'm getting used to have people disagreeing with me. It couldn't be the Habs board if no one did.

So I guess i'm the only one who didn't under-estimated Lang... This guy was a top league scorer with Washington. He expect nothing less than 30 goals from him this year.

I could be wrong, but I believe Gorges was originally a German name (Görges, which is equivalent to Goerges).

Sounds like Lapierre.

Um, no you weren't. We all knew he was a definite upgrade over Bonk and Smolinski...

So much for the "we'd have won the cup with Huet" posters.
