I agree, but at the very least Homer needs to put Stevens's butt on notice. The team is playing uninspired and undisciplined hockey--the coach needs to fix that, and now.

Personally, I have no problem with those that take stupid penalties riding the bike after games as a 'reminder.'

You're talking about one of the premier jobs in the country...they always spend to the hilt, they draw well and have a passionate fanbase, and right now you have a very young and talented nucleus to be working with.

This is the ideal job to come into and coach at. It's not like the Isles where they're building from the ground up.
Excellent points.

If that's the punishment for everyone, what does Downie do for his mistakes? Pull Stevens home in a rickshaw?

LOL. I was actually thinking of Downie as I was typing that, as clearly his punishment would have to far exceed those of the rest of the team.

And be sure to stop at the local bakery along the way?

I bet if you let Cannon give you a bronsky, the team will start winning. Hell, they might even go undefeated the rest of the season!!

Offseason addition Glen Metropolit was a healthy scratch Saturday night. Jared Ross played in his spot. Coach John Stevens said Metropolit has not been playing to his potential and believes it may have something to do with a problem he had with his foot coming into camp.

"He spent the offseason in Florida and he was doing work outside and a palm leaf cut his foot. He got it treated and when he came to camp it was still bothering him. He saw [trainer Jim McCrossin] and discovered he still had a piece of the leaf in his foot and he had to have it cut out.

If that's the case, I'm not too concerned with Metropolit. He started camp a week late, maybe he still needs his legs under him. If they think he's the problem, they got another thing coming.

Stevens is so far beyond reality it just isn't even funny anymore. Metrolpolit wasn't a world beater in his first few games, but he by no stretch of the imagination played poorly. He actually thinks replacing him with Jared Ross is going to make a difference? Let the guy play, he's a good player

For Wednesday's game...

Defenseman Douglas Murray, like Michalek and Plihal, is expected to return to the lineup in Philadelphia. Murray missed two games because of an upper-body injury.

"I think they're definitely going to be options for us," McLellan said of the three.

I doubt the Flyers will win the next game, but I'm hoping for a surprise. I wonder what the breaking point is for Homer where he finally fires Stevens...
