Good point, thx.
Cheers! In that respect, I suppose Higgins could also go on the IR too since he's been out longer that a week as well.

Well we have about 2 million in free space right now....

That 2million becomes more significant as the season goes on.

The cap is calculated daily.... it is

Money Paid to this point + Money owed assuming everyone on your roster stays for the full season....

As time passes... Minny picks up more of the money paid portion of Gaboriks contract and there is less left on the money owed side.

For example with 2million in space... half way through the season we can pick up a player who's yearly salary is 4 million more than what we are giving up.

At the deadline its nearly 8 million.... etc.

Got to make an effort to contribute something intelligent once in a while, considering all the post-count padding I make with smart-alec remarks (you can count this post in that category).

and the guy is in every freakin' rumor out there. granted many come from the teams who want him, but the media should be ashamed of themselves putting this shiite on him. it's pathetic. based on pre-existing team chemistry + our depth at wing, i'll take no. 21 over the 26 year old super star euro made of glass head case ANY DAY.

*edit marinaro just announced higgins didn't get clearance. guess he's not on a plane to minny yet

Thanks man! You said everything I wanted to say.

Enough with the Gaborik talk. I like this team the way it is right now. If we have to add anything, lets wait for Sundin (in case he ever makes up his mind to play)

There's absolutely no reason to bring back Higgins early. The Panthers are a bottom feeder, and the habs are smoking without him right now. Carbo is 100% right to let that injury fully heal.

I think people are reading too much into this. With the next game not until Saturday it makes good sense to sit out Higgins one more game, ensure he's 100%, and not lose him to further injury in a "meaningless" Monday night game in October against Flordia. I wouldn't be shocked if A. Kost goes on IR, making room for Chips.

I don't want Gaborik, and I'm happy if no trade is going to happen...

However, I don't understand this injury. At the very beginning, Higgins was going to be ready for the opening game...

Groin injuries are funny. You walk around and feel 100%, then you put on skates and the motions associated with skating - pushing off, stopping abruptly, turning, etc. - aggrevate it. Then, if a strain turns into a tear, or a chronic issue, you're then talking months instead of days.

Better to be safe.

Didnt Higgins start the year on IR? Whenthey sent Chips down, I thought it was because Higgins was coming back, but he never did, so I think they're ok.

Well, we are off until Saturday so why rush Higgins back into the lineup tonight when we can give him the rest of the week to have his groin ready for action.

Higgins situation?

Curious on why he didn't dress the other night when he was supposed to be in the line-up. Did the groin act up again?
Any idea on when he will finally lace-up?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I can't wait to see Higgins back so he can play with Lang and Sergei Kostitsyn.

Anything to get Sergei away from Kovalev.

you know, i been thinking. Pleks has not been the same this season for some reason or another, maybe Higgins is the answer he needs? You think that Higgins could get pleks and kovalev going? I have been a big keep the pleks/kost/kovalev line together but they have not done squat really so far. maybe this is the perfect oppertunity to try higgins on pleks wing. They were gold in the past.

this would open a kost lang kost line everyone has been itching for this, lets try it on saturday carbo

Lats Koivu Tanguay
Higgins Pleks Kovalev
Kost Lang Kost
Kostopoulos Lapierre Laraque

Begin/dandeneault

Let's just wait for Sundin...AND get Gaborik. Then they can play with Laraque or Dandenault on our 4th line!

Montreal is trading (maybe Gaborik) and he's part of the trade.

There is a GMs meeting this Thursday. We should know more after that. If nothing happens there, he will most probably play Saturday.
