Rich Hammond had a quick interview with him, and asked him what kind of defenseman we can expect to see:
"A Stay-at-home defenseman who jumps up in the rush and sticks up for his teammates and makes the other team pay the price."

I like that! Another though guy.

GO KINGS!!!!

Yes, truly creative, but not worth the effort.

IMO, Quincy will be better for you than Gleason. Be happy.

I have followed Q and wish him luck with the Kinds, but the only time he was the best on the ice ie when he was the only d'man on the ice. I mean come on the guy came to play in the Wing/duck series with Pronger, neidermeir and lidstrom.

I do think he will be a solid stay at home 3rd line pairing. He is nto an offensice threat and his passing is only adequate, but he can body up well, play on the kill and he will stand up for teammates. A good pick-up

Why even think about moving gauthier down, do we really want to make our defense younger and less expierienced then it already is. plus, gauthier is to much of a physical presence out there. and with the loss of Johnson that is something we need out there. in my opinion we send down harrold and see what quincy has to offer to the club.

I haven't understood all the anti-Gauthier sentiment since we picked him up. I think he's a stalwart on D all season barring injury.

21 minutes 1 assist (primary) 3 hits, no PIMS while playing even hockey. Good start for a waiver wire pick-up.

It is only 1 game.....but I can only assume he will get better as he adjusts to the team and his new team mates. I think he will be one of the Kings best defensemen in the near future.

I know it's early but I feel that he had more of an impact than Harrold. . probably best if Harrold returns to Manchester.

I don't think Harrold would make it to Manchester...

He might not....but think of it this way. If Quincey was offered as a straight up trade for Harrold would you take it? If the answer is yes then you take the risk that Harrold does not clear waivers....or maybe even trade him for a low pick if you think he will not clear. But if Quincey is clearly an upgrade over Harrold then losing Harrold is not really a loss at all.

No reason to send Harrold down as long as Johnson is on the shelf.

This is very true....I think people are talking about when he returns.....but a lot of things can change in that period of time.

Exactly. Then there's the thought that coming off shoulder surgery, there's really nothing (except maybe the salary floor?) to prevent the Kings from sending Johnson to Manchester for a little bit to get his legs back under him...

Quincey played very tight this preseason. In Detroit it was bad timing, injuries and system preferences that spelled his doom. after he playe din the WCF agains the Ducks most thought he would gain a spot in Detroit. He broke his hand in camp and didn't find his stride in the AHL until late January. In the meantime Ericcson passed him by. In the offseason stuart signed after they inked Lilja (thinking Stuart was moving on). They already had Meech as their next jitterbug type who could not be sent down w/o going through waivers.

He looked more relaxed in LA than in any game I saw him play in Detroit. Q is not a puck moving, scoring threat. He is a stay at home, take the body clear the puck type. IMO he is a solid pick-up from the waiver and can become a staple on the 3rd pairing with the abilty to kill when called upon. Even as a Q fan, I was surprised to see him on the PP. I am looking forward to catching a few kings games and watching him play.

Make no mistake, this is a very different defense now, than last year.

There is less offense and skating, and more size to be used in the corners and in front of the net.

The addition of O'Donnell, Quincey, Greene & Gauthier, all big boys is a significant change in team dynamics.

This puts Doughty and Preissing in key puck carrier responsibilities and the uses of forwards on the point on power plays more ofetren than before.

I wonder if Quincey claim was made BEFORE JJ was injured, anyone figure this out?

We will probably never know the answer to this question. The claims are not time stamped.

In regards to Quincey being a defensive defenseman.....the guys actually took 3 or 4 SOG that were blocked in the Carolina game. 1 of them almost broke the foot of a Carolina player and another deflected to Kopitar that he shot into the net for the tying goal. For a guy who does not have offensive skills he had a nasty shot.

Q was claimed after the injury to JJ.

Quincey has led the Kings in ice time in each of his 2 games.

Close he was 2nd in ice time in the Hurricanes game. But it is weird that a guy who was waived is one of the top players in ice time on the Kings. I think he is one of the Kings best defensemen right now.

Edit: Actually he was 5th (2nd for defensemen)...but still a lot of minutes.
