His vision/ passing ability is in the top talent of the nhl along with thorton and crosby

He can dominate the pp and also is very effective on the pk

He can log big minutes without making mental blunders

He has a above average slap shot at point "when used" lol

Has a good set of hands and speed

All in all i personaly think he is a top deffender going along notables like Lidtrom,Pronger,Nidermayer, gonchar,Cambell ect
Yeah... the last two shouldn't be on the same paragraph... And I believe Markov is somewhere in between, like a transition phase.

Also this thread needs more photoshop.

I agree with you !! Markov is the MVP of the season so far !! So underrated, I hope to see him in the All-Star game again this year and be nominate for the Norris Trophy

Yeah. That's where I see Markov too, he's the backbone of one of the best transition game in hockey. Where he's underrated, it's at the defensive aspect of the game. He's a rock!

He's also ridiculously cheap for a guy of this caliber, considering the market.

Howver, he hasnt really elevated his game in playoffs, and that's a concern.

I didn't see a topic like this on the first page and was about to create one...

Markov has been Norris caliber for the first 6 games. Just phenomenal out there.

He's the best Dman this team had since ... omg the past 15-20 years at least?

This thread reminded me that Markov is indeed the backbone of this team. He's the most important player on the ice.

''Half the players in this league couldn't even imagine making the plays he makes,'' Koivu said of Markov, who has nine assists in six games. ''It makes the forwards jobs so much easier playing with him. Like on my goal tonight, there's only a handful of players who can miss a shot and recover in time to find a guy and get him the puck.''

with the way he's played so far this year he's probably a Norris candidate. He's just amazing!!! His pass to Koivu yesterday was spectacular.

Amazing player and if he keeps it up he might give Lidstrom some real competition for the Norris.

I was praising Markov for a while to my gf (who is new to hockey) during last night's game. He's one of the best passers in the league, he's amazing out there.

That was one awesome game by Markov. I cannot remembere him ever impressing me as he did last night against the Panthers.

That said, the Norris is of no concern to me. The only trophy that counts is the one given to the last team standing.

Andrei "The ___" Markov

Is this the year this man will finally be recognized as one of the Top 5 in the league?

Can he win the Norris?

Or is the fact that he is in a French market going make him our best kept secret for the rest of his career?

p.s. we need to find this man a nickname... I was thinking along the lines of dependability, consistency, excellence rolls royce? i uno

Does Chuck Norris need a nickname? Then why would Andrei Makov need one.

When Andrei Markov give's an interview his face doesnt become red...it's the lights that turn red.

ok that's bad....but it would explain why he turns red durring interviews.

O_O I was thinking of starting a thread about this today. He doesn't have a nickname!

I propose Marky.
