I dunno, I think if they released a proper 70-71 white jersey that is nearly identical with just a few minor changes, then they could just as easily be accused of trying to make a cash-grab from all those people who just *have* to have everything "collector's" when it hits the market.
I find it kinda refreshing that they went ahead and made the simple gesture, without any real regard for revenue!
They could wear the proper jersey's for the game and never release them for sale at all. That would avoid any "revenue grab" nonsense from the equation altogether.
I remember watching a interview with Pierre Boivin where he leaked that the goalies would be wearing brown pads and gloves for the vintage games AND the players would also be wearing brown gloves.
Halak had the brown pads on a couple of weeks ago in practice too.
That's ridiculous... why wouldn't they just wear an actual jersey that represented the era? Seems strangely lazy, which the organization never is when it comes to stuff like this.

And it's not like they made pyjamas of the other vintage jerseys and all that crap.
I think the last thing on the Habs mind is being seen as a "revenue grab" corporation.

Then I bet there'd be a crowd of people upset because they want to own that particular jersey!
Seriously, I agree with you.. it does seem kinda lazy. But I'm still going to go ahead and play devil's advocate anyway.
not going to read the whole thread, but in case it hasnt been posted yet, this equipment will only be for the vintage games. The whole team will be wearing vintage "look" equipment.
Why not have white pads with a "net" print on them. That way players would have trouble differenciating between the pads and open net maybe a little. That or have one solid red dot on them because it is well known fact that eyes will automatically look at a dot on a solid colour background and you usually shoot where you are looking.
