Calgary usually has a hard time with Nashville for some reason and that little punk Tootoo is a constant pain in the arse. They're always heated games so it should be a good one.
Probably because Iginla undressed him to open the scoring onslaught for Calgary
That was probably the only time I noticed Klein out on the ice, except for his D to D pass over to Zanon on the first goal for. Klein was badly outplayed on that rush and literally took himself out of position allowing Iginla the lane to get the shot off.
That really sucked. We had two 5 on 3's and nada, had a 3-0 lead and still couldn't pull it off. Only good news is I have Iginla on my fantasy team lol... We are having little trouble scoring, its our defense, who would have thunk it?
Every year I have higher hopes for our powerplay unit, feeling it can improve. So far it's not so exciting.
Depressing game. I was listening on the radio again. After it sounded like we left a lot of scoring chances on the ice I went and told my housemate and his girlfriend "I hope this isn't one of those games where we dominate for the first 30 minutes but don't score much and the other team tales over and wins". A couple minutes later we scored our barrage of goals and I told them "I guess not, we're killing them!"
Ugh.
What's up with our defense? Sounds as if we fail to clear the puck a lot. Seems as if the radio call on a couple of their goals was telling me that we had the puck, then BOOM they score. Pissed me off!
I thought Klein was supposed to be a good skater and decision maker?
The only consolation is that this should light a fire and our guys won't let down with leads.
3rd time is the charm- I tried to post thoughts twice before following this... thing...but it just got me pissed again.
In every season there will be 2-3 games like this (a game at the Wild last year comes to mind) that leaves you wanting to assault someone connected with the team. It happens. I just hate that it happened this early because it feels like it increases the odds that we see it 10-15 times instead of 2-3 this year. But maybe not, so I'm finally ready to let it go.
My two main complaints (which are on the list because there isn't any excuse on them AT ALL):
1. Failure to get movement on th PP (body and feet moving not the puck).
2. Failure to be in position to clear the crease (forget actually clearing it, which maybe Hamhuis isn't strong enough to do)
It would be easy to complain about 20 other things but at least you can argue that something the Flames were doing right caused us to fail (faceoffs) but these two simple things owe nothing to what the Flames were doing. To use an overused HFB phrase... EPIC FAIL.
On the bright side, it feels a bit like the start to last year where it took some time for the defense to gel and get the new guys integrated. If we have another early season thrashing by the Kings to repeat last year... head... will... explode....
