"At a press conference following a meeting of the general managers in Chicago Bob Gainey stated that he was never interested in Marian Gaborik of the Wild"
How can Bob be more clear than that?
Gaborik is not coming to Montréal period (Mandala 5 or M5)
Moreover, the journalist adds from an unnamed source that Gaborik in injured in the groin and must take a break every 25-30 days because of the intense pain. This information apparently explains why other teams have shown little interest in Gaborik, at least for now.
Well there's a stupid article if I ever saw one. He reports that Gainey wasn't interested in Gaborik because he's injury prone yet he suggests Martin Havlat :

Never it says 'cause he's injury prone but because he's injured NOW while Havlat is not injured at the present moment.
I don't see us adding either Havlat or Gaborik this season. It is simply a poor fit, we have plenty of skill wingers. Center was a bit of an issue but Lang helps fill that void and Koivu has a very good start. Barring injury, I don't see why we would make a move with our forwards, right now we have depth and a mix of size, skill, grit and toughness. I'm a lot more concerned about inexperienced in nets and a void behind Markov if he were to go down. I don't think either of those things will be looked at until the deealine or 3-4 weeks before.
I like how R Lavoie from RDS, has a title story of how the Habs are no longer interested in Gaborik, even after BG has said more than once that he had no interest in Gabby. Hey he has to protect his sources..hehehe idiot.
Higgins said yesterday he has no desire to move and that he doesn't put much stock in the rumours.
"I can show you guys how much I want to stay by playing but, sitting in the press box, I can't do that," Higgins said. "It's difficult to deal with because there's no release, no satisfaction from playing the game."
"I've been told (the rumours are) 100-per-cent speculative. It's nothing I've been concerned with," said Higgins, who noted that he was reassured by people inside the Canadiens' organization.

I think that you missed the point . Havlat is injury prone , but " Gaborik is injured in the groin and must take a break every 25-30 days because of the intense pain " . I think that he means that Gaborik has a chronic or permanent injury .
He also reports that Havlat lives in Montreal during the summer ( for 3 years ) because he loves the city
So now Gainey has been clear.
Higgins is a hab, Gaborik is NOT and Sundin is NOT and that's it.
Sundin blew off Gainey and now it's entirely possible Gaborik won't sign before the summer and has blown off Gainey also.
By stating Higgins is staying Gainey he telling Sundin and Gaborik the have a nice life.
I like the closure... however... I did say it was minny that approached montreal.. that is for sure... gainey may have said right off the bat "no thanks"... but the question now turns to... why are there so many scouts at the games... and trust me I have been at the last two.. and will be again saturday and there are scouts there.. for sure.. .. so higgins is out with injury so its not him.. so who the heck are they watching.. and right now... I dont have a clue as to who it is.. none!
