Really?

That... shocks me. I missed the initial hit and only saw the aftermath, but it looked like a pretty severe concussion....

It was his leg, but like HOF I was actually a bit happy. Thought it would stir things up.

Eh, I still think we see new lines in Vancouver....

Nilsson - Horcoff - Hemsky
Cogliano - Gagner - Cole
Penner - Pouliot - Pisani
Moreau - Brodziak - Smac

I couldn't be happy for the injury for obvious reasons , but given that I just saw the way he came off I was positive it was a head injury.... a charlie horse isn't a big deal, but I honestly thought his eggs were scrambled.

Some people here are actually suggesting a Horcoff injury would be good for the team? Are you nuts?

He only leads the team in goals right now...

No absolutely not. No one wants to see anyone injured, but the only way MacT ever seems to stumble on a line combination that works is via injuries.

He answered the 3 questions right.

Whats your name?
Where are you?
Whats your favorite color..Green!. doh, no wait, contractually its Blue!!

Plus he found his hotel room and can still play NHL 09. He did this great inside outside move and beat Gilbert. He's gotta be fine.

You don't think he would have changed up the lines after 2 brutal losses in a row? It absolutely needs an injury?

Devil's Advocate: Is it always the line combination that works, or is it that players finally step up and give a stronger effort and smarter play when they're counted on to do more?

It's not like MacT is playing cribbage here. Or coaching finicky pre-teen intramural players. These pros need to look in the mirror and start playing up to their own expected performance level.

Those are the lines that I would like to see as well, I mean after all.....they kind of make sense don't they? Nilsson has the talent and speed to play on the first line, Cole is back on the right side and the second line in no slouch. Penner is back on the left and Pisani is out of the circle and back on his wing. Oh, and Stortini can go "hug it out" on another team somewhere.

Why wouldn't they be like this?

Well, for one, Pouliot clearly doesn't have the confidence of the coaching staff as a third-line centre that can be put out against tough opposition. Even when he was on the line, he was playing wing to Pisani's centre. Also, Moreau has been stepping it up playing a strong, tough game well-fitted for the third line (Edit: and he's +4 doing it). Why move him to a line that can only play a couple of minutes per night thanks to Smac?

What about this:

Nils - Horc - Hemmer
Penner - Gags - Cole
Moreau - Cogs - Pi
Pouliot - Brodz - Storts/Mac

Everyone is playing their preferred position in this line-up. The first line is built for speed and skill, the second line for the cycle (even though Gags has world class hands he's at his best on the cycle, not on the fly like a Hemsky-type), the third line is solid at both ends, and the fourth line... well, you have to put those guys somewhere.

The only problem I foresee with this line-up is a bunch of games at 40% in the dot, which, granted is a massive problem. Solution? Have Penner take draws for Gagner, and put Horc or Brodz out with the third line for defensive faceoffs, then switch with Cogs.

Anyway, just throwing it out there... With 1 goal (PP no less) in the last 2 games, clearly something has to change...

il ike this a lot. One of the better line up I have seen

Thank you. Is a line combination going to be the difference in terms of players not losing their men defensively?
