Briere Injury Update, Nov. 12 --Slight Left Groin Strain -- out 5-7 days (post #122)

Says he didn't skate? Think they were just giving him the day off?

Will he play tomorrow. We need him! I saw flashes of the flyers clicking last game and with everybody in the lineup I think we can turn this boat around.

2-3-3 going into the new week would be very good all things considering.

He is listed as day-to-day and officially has a lower body injury. Speculation is that the injury is a groin pull. Latest word is that he is expecting to play.

Danny Briere did not practice yesterday because of what is believed to be a slight groin pull. He is expecting to play tonight. The Flyers are calling it a "lower body" injury. He is listed as day-to-day . . . Simon Gagne, who missed Wednesday's game with the flu, was not at practice yesterday either, but coach John Stevens is hopeful he will be available tonight.

Briere is out. Gagne is a game-time decision, per the Flyers' website.

Panaccio: Briere Out at Least 3 Weeks

Quote:
NEWARK, N.J. – Danny Briere is scheduled to undergo surgery Saturday morning to repair a torn muscle in his abdomen. He is expected to miss three weeks to a month, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.

The procedure will take place at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia.

The injury is to the left side of Briere’s abdomen and, according to Holmgren, is related to an injury he suffered three years ago while with the Buffalo Sabres.

Holmgren added that because of the Flyers’ cap situation – they’re about $2 million under the cap – a trade is unlikely.

Quote:

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren gave the following update on Flyers center Danny Briere prior to tonight's Flyers-Devils game at the Prudential Center:

"Danny has a slight tear in his reptus abdominis, which is a stomach muscle," said Holmgren. "He will have surgery at Hahnemann Hospital tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. He will be out of the lineup approximately 3-4 weeks."

"I am surprised by the turn of events that happened today," said Briere. "I hate missing time, but by being aggressive, I will be back soon."

Briere currently leads the Flyers in scoring with three goals and four assists in six games.

“I felt a little something in my groin in the game against San Jose,” Briere said. “I had an MRI done and the person looking at it said it was fine. I had it checked again today and they found a little tear, so I am going to go ahead and have the surgery tomorrow morning."

This is ****ing ridiculous. But maybe a good thing. Let's get all the crap out of the way RIGHT NOW, not in March not in April. Let's be 100% healthy, then with another solid dman added to the roster, MAYBE a new coach and this team will be back better than ever.

This is just total crap though.

Speaking of which, anyone see the irony in that orthopaedic commercial saying something along the lines of "if we keep these guys coming back for more, imagine what we could do for you." Those "guys" they are referring to are the Flyers.

Somehow, I'm getting the wrong feeling from that ad.
hahaha

If this is how it's going to be, don't make trades just to get back in it. If we're not good enough, we're not good enough. We're running out of draft picks.

I concur. I think that this time will be good to get some rooks up rather than spend our future for a futile present.

Maybe the Flyers will play better without him.

The femur is one of the strongest bones in your body.

How did you manage that?
