Trade Proposal - Halak for Volchenkov

To Ottawa: Halak and Dandenault
To Montreal: Volchenkov ($2.2m this year, 3.2 m next year)

I don't usually post these, but what do you think of this proposal?

The Sens desperately need a goalie and the Habs would like to have a good solid d-man for the 2nd pairing.

Would you do this? Would the Sens do this?

Comments?

Wow...um well lets see....an unproven young goalie and trash with skates for another version of Mike Komisarek.

Ottawa wouldn't even think about this.

well it's not really a question for Habs fan... we'd be stupid to refuse this... and The sens would be drunk to accept this...

Fair enough. I figured that might be a little much for Halak (he agreed to it though...I think he's just so pissed off about their goaltending situation that he'll give up anything).

Dandenault is just to even out salary.

What do you think it would take for Volchenkov? What about Phillips?

Trade proposals are risky on HF. The proposer usually ends up in between two fan bases bashing at each others players.

Personally, I don't know, I feel Halak can become a good goalie. He has had many very good games. So I don't know... let the "pros" argue it out, and not give you answer ><

It's a lot for the Sens, but this is also a stupid move for the Habs. Anyone who's watched Halak knows this guy is seriously ready for prime time. Do you really want to give Ottawa the goalie solution they've been looking for? Is what they're giving back the piece that delivers us the Cup?

It's like giving someone Pacific Avenue to complete the set when you already have Boardwalk and Park Place.

It'd suck to turn down Volchenkov.. but I'd do it in this trade.

Halak could very well solve Ottawa's goaltending problems and make them a serious threat in the Eastern Conference. They are almost a no-threat right now because their goaltending is horrendous.

Hopefully this is the first and last Halak to Ottawa trade thread we ever have to read. Ottawa would never go for this specific deal, but why in the world would we even consider giving the Sens a player like Halak? They can go try to get Khabibulin or live with the Auld/Gerber tandem or whatever.

This is what I'm saying. Maybe this is the trade that vaults us into the next level; maybe not. But there's a good chance this move seriously improves Ottawa, and that just makes things harder for us.

Add OByrne and they could start hearing..

A fair package could be Halak + OByrne + D'Agostini.. If Im Murray, I seriously consider that package.. But a trade between Habs and Ott is basically impossible anyway..
