He was up at 6 if you counted right away. Regardless, Bute fought that last round like an idiot.

He was up but being up is not all. You have to look ready to defend your self no? Now if the count was quicker would Andrade have had an other chance to hit him before the end of the round?

I'd like to see where we would be with a normal 10 count... This is Richard Steele in Julio Cesar Chavez's fight all over again. One in a long line of refs that have completely spoiled a fight.

not doubt Andrade did what he needed to do but Bute beat the count by 2-3 seconds. I dont see how the ref could possibly call Bute KO considering he was on his feet. Close call but the right decision was made.

I wouldn't be terribly proud of the win if I were Bute. However, it looks to me that even if the ref would have counted as he should have that Bute would have beat the count and that the bell would have went thus ending the fight after the knockdown. There should definitely be a rematch though.

Well the rules are clear: if you fight a world champ, you have to knock him out or outclass him completely to beat him. Bute was just protected by this unwritten boxing rule.

Its a learning experience for him and its nice to see its been applied. Just try to remember what happened in the Beyer-Lucas fight where the champ was given the fight even if he was the loser.

Works both ways...

We all know deep inside who really won that fight. I feel bad for Andrade, everything he said in the interview was right. Bute was completely out, he stood in the corner but the refs keeps yelling at him to be on the corner to lose some time.

I don't know what Bute tried to do in the last 2 rounds (probably go for the KO) but he fought pretty bad in the end. Other than that, he was in full control of the fight.

He looked to be up with 7 seconds so at 9 seconds I would assume he would have been ok to continue. I'm not big on the boxing rule so I won't say much more.

No question he got lucky at the end but if he boxed the 12th round better (smarter), no problem at all for the win.

TOugh call at the end, I think Bute was shaken but at the same time, he was up since a long time. He's lucky that fight ended there. Bute learned there that against a good boxer you have to play it safe when you have the lead. He didn't play the ''buldog'' game and Andrade did. Andrade was physical a real grinder while Lucian won with his talent.

He was on the corner.

And there is no way Bute would have survived in a proper count.

Andrade was clearly robbed.

Honnestly I am a Bute fan... But this is a total disgrace to the sport...
The ref was an embarassement. Not only with the debacle at the end but throughout the fight with the non calls, holding and clutching by Bute.

I'll agree once I know the real time that count lasted.

Bute was completely out of gas at the end. It's the toll of the 12 rounds more than Andrade's knockdown punch that did the damage.

The count lasted 24 seconds and it seemed that Bute was on his feet at the 9th sec but he was completely lost (eyes were not focusing on anything).
