Well this wasn't worth going over my bandwith limit.

The good news is that Higgins is looking good and Plekanec is about to stop playing like a lil girl.

IMO, the game turned on that Kovalev penalty, which looked like a total phantom call based on the replay RDS showed. Perry quickly tied it on the PP.

Ah well, we were gonna lose in regulation eventually. ...

My brain almost imploded trying to find a reason why Brisebois should ever suit up for another NHL game.

If he wasn't hurting us, he wasn't helping.

My question is (i missed the 1st pd), why is Koivu on the ice? He really didn't do anything. Just floated around, made a couple of passes, didn't cover anyone in the defensive end...

Mind you, there were some really really bad penalties called and missed.

Meh 1 game.

I wouldn't be worrying about a winger or 4th dman, I'd be worried about a big 2nd centerman, as Koivu disappears against teams that really hit.

Koivu had a good game, much better than Kovalev who was quite content throwing th puck away after 5 seconds of gliding. Koivu and Higgins should play together as they are always creating chances. What game were you watching?

Defensive zone coverage was absolutely brutal. Probably one of the worst defensive efforts since the lockout.

Guys were getting caught in the offensive zone, giving up odd man rushes and getting caught taking shifts that were far too long.

Physical play was lacking. The Ducks barely hit and didn't establish much of a forecheck, but once they got to cycling the puck we looked helpless out there. Just chasing shadows in our own zone with no support.

Higgins looked rusty, but it looks as though he's really going to be an impact player this year once he finds his legs.

We gave up 6 goals, but I don't think you can entirely blame this game on Price/Halak. Just some brutal coverage and very poor penalty killing.

PK has generally been pretty good this year, but for whatever reason we extremely disorganized today. Maybe the layoff was too long? The breakouts didn't look as crisp as they usually do.

Anyways, best to forget about this one and just try and refocus for Tuesday's game.

- Terrible coaching decision by Carbo to bring Price in. Price looked bad especially on the Moen goal. Goaltending 101; if the puck is bouncing/rolling on a breakaway you go for the POKECHECK

- The team was just terrible in the defense zone, Markov and Komi especially.

- Skost.....hope we're not about to see a huge sophmore slump..

- Kovy was awsome. Can't stand how Carbo keeps going with the Lang, Koviu unit to start PP's over Kovy and Pleks.

- Georges was probably the best dman but that was the worst I've seen a Habs 6 man unit look in a long time.

- BGL needed to fight sometime in the 2nd or early 3rd.

- Reffing was absolutly a joke.

Well, put it simply, Giguere had a good game, he let in four goals, and he made 50 some saves based on us playing towards his bread and butter. The only times we scored were the only times we actually tried to get him to move.

Halak couldn't stop a beachball, our passing was all long bombs, not smart short passes which makes us successful, too many odd man rushes against us and Price was sick, so I'm not going to fault him.

This team has what I call brickwall syndrome. They don't know how to change their tactic. They work with one tactic to death and continue to use it even if it proves inefficient.

Just a very sloppy game. A team with too much practice and not in the game mentally. Honestly its ridiculous having 5 days off in a row not even a month into the season.

Kovalev, Koivu, Higgins and Lang were all decent but nothing special.

The defense core as a whole was well below average. Brisebois was downright awful with Komisarek not far behind. Brisebois, Georges, and Bouillon are all too weak or too small when trying to contain.

It was just a frustrating game to watch because of all the mental mistakes.

For some optimism: I think its a pretty great thing that when a goalie like Giguere gets in the zone, we still score 4 goals.

One thing I hope, if AKost is not back on Tuesday, is that they put Sergei back with Lang and Kosto and get Higgins with Pleks and Kovy.

Sergei has been a total ghost replacing his bro on that line. Honestly, I can't even remember one quality pass or shot from him in the 2 and half games on that line.
