It would count as possession IMO since it's a deliberate move to touch the puck. A stick check though... I will try that

When they really need it. Teams hire interpreters.

As others have said, the players understand the basics of the game and when the team needs to get fine details across they can turn to teammates and interpreters to get the message across. In the case of Andrei, in Hamilton, I don't think they could keep the interpreter around all the time so Raitis Ivanans helped out quite a bit. Then when Grabovski showed up, Andrei helped him out, so it kinda went full circle. In the NHL it won't be as much of an issue with their resources, but I suspect that in the minor/junior leagues, things could be a little more complicated with less resources and lower chances of a team being diverse enough to cover.

Does anyone understand how they choose who gets kicked out of the faceoff circle?

The offending player.

As in the player who encroaches on the middle of the circle..

Or if one of the wingers encroaches on the other team's position, they'll kick the centre out.

That would be an awesome job unless you had to keep track of stats for every player on both teams it might get confusing. If you were assigned to one player or a couple it would be cool. I would love to get paid to watch Sergei Kostitsyn the whole game

Well, if you're new at the job without experience.. i think they'll assign you to someone with names like Joe Smith.
