Is it a coincidence that Q's team is playing some really good hockey while savards team looked unorganized?
I dont know but they obviously feel confident with Q behind the helm with a 3yr contract. We will see.

I would have liked to have waited a bit longer before signing him longer term but you can't deny that the Q coached team looks a hell of a lot better than when Savvy was back there. Hopefully that 'new coach smell' sticks around for awhile.

Wow

I would have waited till playoffs come and then offer something. Wait till things pan out... but they look good, no doubt. I say let Scotty have them... even though i believe that is a no-chance situation.

It turns out, though, that you have to sign a coach to a contract to have him be your coach.

Funny thing, that.

OK... then sign him to a one year deal with the chance for an ext... not just say ok... we won a game, you are it for 3 years. Q is a clear winner, glad to have him, but to award him 3 years for doing nothing yet is absurd. oh well. Its done.

This is generally how stuff like this works, although 2 years seems to be the norm. If they want to fire him, they'll fire him regardless of contract.
