Katz is pulling the strings now and with Lowe one step removed from the GM, don't be surprised to see the end of this dreadful Oiler nepotism of "hire your own, protect your own".

If the Oilers struggle on the road, we will have a new coach.

I don't care who it is- I just want an offensive minded coach with a decent record, AHL or NHL.
I agree....this road trip should determines the future of this club. It's time for change....and not someone from the old boys club. Quinn, Crawford, Tortorella, who ever...someone NEW

True, because no other organization in the league does things like promote those who were formerly or are currently with the organization.

Any coach is going to play with what he has to work with (at least a good one). I don't see the problem of bringing in a coach who's been successful in the past but gets labeled as a veteran coach. Let's be honest, what veterans could a coach possibly defer to? Strudwick over Smid? No coach is going to put Moreau on a scoring line. I think really besides Horcoff and Pisani and Cole all of the teams impact players are youngsters. We have a veteran team on the back end with Vis, Shelly, and Staios and Strudwick. Any new coach, regardless of his past experience, is going to have to play the kids. He really doesn't have any other options.

I like Bugg's choice for the coach, Scott Arniel. I'm not overly familiar with him but Matt did a great sell job on him.

Just cause he worked under greatness, doesn't mean he is great.

Hey that is 1 more year of head coach expiriance then MacT and Kevin Lowe had combined when they became the Oilers Bench Boss.

Pass, he is too likely to quit or get fired after a year or two.
