Tor / Car

To Toronto: Sergei Samsonov
To Carolina: Jason Blake

Flame away.

Or possibly, try to build a trade around these two played

Leafs toss away some salary, Sammy gets a change of scenery and so does blake, Carolina picks up a more capable player but more salary as well.

No. No way the Canes are going to take on salary, and plus I'd just plain rather have Sammy.

Leafs would probably have to throw in an asset for the dump. And even then, Carolina would probably still say no. Looks like the only way Blake gets a change of scenery is if we buy him out....

Yeah.... well I figured I'd give it a shot, I don't normally make proposals ever but figured I'd try

Idk though, both teams could take the shaft from this or even could benefit, so it's hard to say who wins here. If both players play like **** though, Toronto wins this deal hands down.

If both play well, imo both teams win cause they get rid of someone who isn't producing.

Regardless though, unless Blake pans out and Sammy doesn't the leafs win this trade.

I could see a change of scenery possibly doing wonders for Blake, but I doubt anyone would take him on at this point.I don't particularly like Samsonov, but at this point its probably best for Blake and the Leafs if they part ways.

I wouldn't do this if I were Carolina.

Blake needs a scenery change so bad, I'll throw in extra stuff to get Samsonov, and I really don't like him. Blake + White?

Sammy is struggling to get points but it's not that he's playing poorly or not putting effort. He's missed some finishing chances but his creativity with the puck opens up up so many opportunities for the other canes players. Even though he's pointless he's still an important part of the team offense... that sounds weird i know.

Do they have anyone they are really looking to dump?

I can't see any dump really being worth having Blake locked up that long unless he really starts producing...

Well they do have a couple injured D don't they? Maybe trading one of them off could be beneficial to both teams. I don't know enough about the carolina D to tell you who but I just saw two struggling players and figured maybe a swap could do both teams good.

I thought Samsonov was flourishing in Carolina? Why would he need another change of scenery?

No. This trade actually adds salary in the long term for the Hurricanes (Blake has three more years past this one, while Samsonov has two and Kaberle one) while downgrading in talent. And the Hurricanes give up the pick?

If there's any team that can't take on Blake's massive contract, it's Carolina.

I agree. Eight-game sample sizes are great bases for trade proposals. I mean, Niclas Wallin has more points than Kaberle, Redden, Visnovsky, Liles, Burns and Schneider!

Blake is five years older than Samsonov, has an extra year left on his contract, and a much higher cap hit ($4M vs. $2.53).
