I was wondering, could Slats have hurried to move Jessiman now because we sits at the top of the standings?

I mean, its hard to critizise him much now thats for sure. Media will be pissed about this for a hour, but it will probably be all forgotten after tonights game...

I'm going to try to take the positive out of this and say at least we got something for him.

I don't see the timing as being strange at all. Jessiman didn't stand out in training camp with the Rangers, it appears he didn't stand out during training camp with the Wolfpack and he didn't play well during the Wolfpack's games so far this season. He's going to be a free agent at the end of season. It was way past time for Sather to admit that his project wasn't going to work out for the Ranger organization. Might as well get rid him now and open up some playing time for prospects in the organization who might actually become NHL players.

It's the first rational thing Sather has done regarding Jessiman.

I only wish we'd have gotten Josh Gratton back from them (for Hartford) in return... instead Nashville traded him to Philly at the same time.

Jessiman suffered for the Rangers really poor decision to draft him where they did. By all accounts, he's a good guy, and he's been a good teammate, so I wish him well in Milwaukee.

(Btw, Lev -- I don't recall saying -- or hearing -- anything about him b!tchining about not getting a shot, but maybe I'm forgetting something?)

well, we will see about that. our former first round pick is dead. r.i.p... thats another first round pick that wont make it

I don't see the relation to the standings...

Why will the media be pissed? Please elaborate

Fortunately, I only have the memory of the draft day deal that sent prospect Fedor Tyutin and the 12th pick in the draft to Columbus for the #4 pick, when we selected Nik Zherdev. Imagine someone being foolish enough to take Jessiman in that draft.

But why now? Why not out of camp? Why not 20 games into the Hartford season?

I'm not questioning the move.

I'm guessing that the "future considerations" include something of actual value, should Jessiman play for Nashville. Slats probably thought that this was the best he was going to get for a player who was never going to make it as a Blueshirt.

On another note, I literally have had dreams where Getzlaf was a Ranger...

That actually makes a lot of sense. The more games he plays, the better the potential return.

Lets hope Hugh starts tearing it up. The better he plays, the better return.

Jessiman, Montoya, Blackburn and a young Russian I do not wish to speak the name of, where the last two and especially the last one is said with more sadness than the others...

Rangers have had such a great streak of 1st rounders...

As earlier said, at least a certain 7th round goalie makes up for it, and that the organisation have picked up players like Rozsival and Girardi basically for free and turned them into very solid players.

Lets not overlook the loss of Stefan Cherneski. I sure a lot of people had high hopes for that guy.

Doubtful, but i would love it if we acquire Radulov in this.

Obviously he wants no part in a small market.

He could come to NYC and be with Zherdev and visit Brighton Beach when ever he wants. Large Russian community there.

There are probably questions about his character though.

I'll laugh if he tears it up and Radulov's rights are traded to us, and he bolts from Russia to NYC

A few potential reasons I could see:

1. He spent another summer working hard and the Rangers wanted to see if anything would come of it and wanted to give him a chance to show it in game action.

2. He quickly proved that he hadn't improved, and may have in fact regressed over the summer.

3. Justin Soryal proved he could fill the role of protector who can also play that Jessiman has been filling.

Whatever the reason, Sather's never really given much concern to what the press says or thinks, so I don't think that's part of it.

What exactly does future consideration mean? What say do the rangers have in it? What say does Nashville have? I mean, does Nashville say like months later, hes played like someone I would get from a 5th rounder so we will give you one of those. I am very confused. Do they have a chart that says like 10g-10a gets 5th round. 15g-15a, 4th rounder etc...

Malik: check
Jessiman: check
Prucha: ???

Move Prucha, and the players that generate the most nonsensical and whiny comments on this board will all be gone.

Sucks Hugh was a bust, but whatever. Hopefully for him he turns into something in Nashville. I'll be glad to get a sixth round pick in return, anything more would be gravy.

Soooooo you all know he is going to play in the NHL now and likely be a productive 3rd/4th liner

Rangers just had too much depth..........good luck to him

And Cherneski who was drafted in the first round in 1997.

As far as screwups go, Lundmark along with Brendl. Not only did we waste two first rounders on them, but we actually threw in Marc Savard to get Lundmark. Malhotra and Sundstrom are bad #8 picks too. Cloutier wasn't good. Peter Ferraro.

Basically, we went from Kovalev to Staal before someone became worth the pick we wasted on him.

Matt Zaba is the backup.

They dumped Holt because he's not particularly good.
