The Habs had a goalie in the system named Les Kuntar at some point. Phoenetically, I think it was Kooontar.
I had a call in show on one day and the caller kept saying that they had to call up Kuntar, using the flat U sound. I think the hosts were Elliot Price and Melnick, and from what I remember, they couldn't even stop laughing long enough to talk to the guy. They completely lost control as the guy used the name about 8 times.
he does get the Tanguay, Latendresse, Begin etc.. better then any other commentator
In Pierre's defence though, many times ive heard him explain why he pronounces it weird, sometimes the players even request such pronounciation but he doesnt explain this to his viewers every single time. the latest example i can think of is Vokoon why he pronounces "Vos Cones" lol.
Not actually in hockey, but somewhat related. Richard "D*ck" Pound.
My ex-wife had a real good laugh when she first heard the name Tug-nutt.
For appropriate names, I always thought that Garth Butcher had a great name for a stay at home, in your face D. And a junior goalie in Niagara Falls I believe around 1990. Roch Belley. Take your best shot. You can't hurt Roch Belley.
Wow I forgot all about Roch Belley. I remember watching him play. He was eventually replaced in net by Manny Legace.
