Much appreciated. I'll post the link to the Halloween excerpt, too.

Thanks Bill! Just in time for my kids to order it for Christmas or my birthday! I look forward to reading it!

We're probably going to use the same cover art as the Swedish version of the book. This was the dominant image on the cover:

The number of pages will depend on how it gets laid out, but I'd estimate about 250 pages. There are 31 chapters.

We're waiting to release the book until next September because the contracts were only signed recently, and we want it to come out before the start of the hockey season with carryover to the holiday season. Also, 2009 will mark the year in which Pelle would have have celebrated his 50th birthday.

Thanks again!
Thanks Bill. I'm looking forward to getting a copy of Pelle's book next September, I can't wait to read it. It seems every year around the anniversary of his death, I think for a moment what his career and the Flyers would have been like if he hadn't died. I really believe with Pelle in the nets and the young team the Flyers had, that they would have won a couple of cups. But we'll never know. Thanks for translating the book so Flyer fans over on this side of the pond can read about his life.

This is pretty cool: A poster from Lämna Mig Inte Ensam.

Long story short: In 1980, shortly after he returned from the Olympics in Lake Placid, Pelle had one of the starring roles in a movie called Lämna Inte Mig Ensam (Don't Leave Me Alone).

He played a young athlete (he's a boxer rather than a hockey player) named Magnus, who loses his girlfriend to prostitution.

The movie is supposedly pretty bad and did mediocre box office in Sweden. Pelle's participation is pretty much the only reason it's still notable, although the guy who wrote and directed the movie is well-known in Sweden.

For Pelle, the cool parts about participating (apart from having a main role in a nationally released movie) were that he got to box, ride motorcycles and have a love scene. But even he thought the movie was pretty lame when he saw the end result on screen.

Was Pelle an aspiring actor or did he just do it for kicks?

Either way, it's a cool story.

He was a movie buff, but mostly he did it for kicks (he was friends with the writer/director and he always thought it'd be cool to be in a movie).

I feel sorry for the equipment guy..... but only a little bit.

My favourite Hallowe'en scoreline from Bill's list:

In addition to the article, there are also videos posted of the memorial ceremony (Gene Hart and Bernie Parent speeches) as well as interview Lindbergh filmed for HNIC during the summer of 1985, shortly after winning the Vezina Trophy.

Fantastic article, Bill.

Years later, he wrote on a school paper, "This is meaningless. I'm going to be the goalie for the Philadelphia Flyers."
Awesome.

Hopefully, after this and as the new baby gets older, Bill will once again blog his wisdom... He knowledge on the European players is unmatched... And his other hockey knowledge is missed as well.
