He doesn't seem to be playing the same role as last year. Clark was hurt last year when he came over, and Salei was getting some 1st unit PP time, so we relied on him a bit more for offense, and carrying the puck.
This year it seems like Leo is playing more of an offensive role, which kind of leaves Salei to hang back a bit since he's his partner. You can see that in Salei's shot totals too, as last year after being traded, he had 30 shots in 17 games for an average of 1.76 shots per game. This year he has 12 shots in 10 games for a 1.20 average.
you know, we (or at least I) kind of had the sense that Salei was playing over his head after the deadline last year and would come back to earth a bit this year. He's definitely been a disappointment, although he's still a big upgrade to Skrastins. It's just that we've seen that he could be so much better than the way he's playing.
