We need Allison

Face it, you may love him or hate him, but bottom line is our biggest loss last year was losing the big center. Now his agent says he is healthy and willing to take an incentive based contract.

Lets look at our centers:

Armstrong, Cammo, Belanger, Pirnes, Avery. Doesn't strike me as anything over a third liner with the exception of Cammo. Now we can go out and sign Demitra as our #1 center but still we have a line of smurfs.

Palffy said he wants to play for a winner. With our centers not a chance.

Murray wants a winner. Not a chance.

Kariya expressed interest. He is a LW'er and a smurf. We already have Frolov, Straka, Robitaille and Cowan.

Nedved has been linked to L.A but realistically he is a second liner.

Now if we sign J.A to 2 to 3 mil base with incentives that gives us a big point producer, a big center that can make room for the smaller Straka. It may help Palffy stay, If you were him and you look at our roster would you want to stay, especially for a drop in pay, not a chance.

Now L.A should still have a little money left to sign a possible Nedved, or Murray. Even if they dont look at the lines.

Allison, Palffy Straka 13-15 mil top line with speed and size
Cammo, Barney, Frolov 3.5 mil young line with potential 40-50 point range
Pirnes, Klatt, Robitaille 3.5 mil competent 3rd line, has scoring potential
Avery, Brown, Cowan 2 mil defence, energy, and agitation

Norstom, Dempsey 5 mil both log heavy minutes, good outlets
Gleason, Miller 4.25 mil Miller perfect mentor when healthy
Visnovsky, Quintal 3 mil Quintal holds fort clears crease
Corvo .7 mil PP specialist, injury replacement

Cechmanek, Garon 5 mil Healthy bigger D, no Modry, less goals

42 mil competitive roster max

replace Cammo with Nedved for 2.5 mil extra

Can anyone argue if Allison, Miller and Palffy's health probs are behind them that this team is not play off bound. Quintal is older but an awesome pickup, will help Visnovsky in the defensive zone. Garon will push Cechmanek or simply take over. Allison and Palffy are declaired fit and both have stated they like L.A but only if competitive. Staka and Millar for a whole year. Frolov blossoming on target, Barney suprising everyone including the medical world. Cammo just needs big boys to play with so he is allowed room.

I guess back to my main point. Our D and 3rd and 4th lines looks awesome, our goaltending improved and capable, awesome Left wingers lead by Straka and Frolov.

Is it two far off to re - sign Allison, take that 2 to 3 million dollar chance. It would make Ziggy think before signing elsewhere. If Ziggy goes there is always Demitra, Kovalev or Murray that could be had even a little cheaper that would work well with a huge center like Allison to feed them.

All management has to remember is that 2- 3 mil gamble is made back in one playoff round.

Your thoughts, and please don't respond that Allison is garbage because he will probably come back to haunt us!

Allison is one of the best centers in the league when healthy. To sign him to that contract would be great.
Its clear I don't want us to re-build so ofcourse I want him.

If you can get Allison on an incentive, Lindros-type contract, great! But unless Allison woke up with a horse's head in his bed, you can't force him to sign anything and I don't think he wants to be in LA anymore.

Would Allison really sign an incentive-based contract? I agree that he is a top center in the league when healthy. But remember, this is a guy who has always bickered with management over contracts (look at what happened with the Boston Bruins). Furthermore, he was angry at Murray last season because Murray said Allison would return. Allison doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would take an incentive-based contract...

I don't think Allison has any choice but to sign an incentive based contract. The question is, which team will it be?

Somehow I think in the past we talked about this before.

No doubt, Allison is a Great player. The problem is, what's his deal?

a- Doctors cleared him to play, yet he wasn't there when we needed him last year.
b- Contract dispute with Boston when he got traded here (although I know he wouldn't be the first)
c- Fourth in league scoring, and not even invited to Olympic evaluation.
d- Squabbling with Andy Murray whilst injured

I know none of this means anything if you look at them individually, but if you look at the totality of these points, I think they clearly point to a flawed character, especially considering they took place over the course of only about 4 years.

Yes, he's a great player. But do we want such a headache in the room? What good is he to us if he just sits on his butt all year?

A- From what I have heard he was not cleared to play.
B- Like you... said not the first
c- Good point
D- You can place blame on both sides for that. Allison wasn't healthy and Murray set a return date for him. I can't speak for anyone else, but that would piss me off too.
He came back months early from a knee injury. I believe Allison would play if healthy.

He's charity is still doing events in LA. They actually just did an event on July 4th.
The whole Allison thing is a mystery.
