Its tough to say on the leafs... maybe kulemin or schenn as a prospects in hamilton/junior... nothing on their current roster overly excites me.

As for Boston, I'd probably go with chara even though he really seems to struggle against the habs. It would be great to have a guy like chara solidify the 2nd pairing with Hamrlik.

Markov, komisarek, Chara, Hamrlik would be quite the top 4

Since I replied only when there was the Bruins one, I'd totally give up Lapierre for Mitchell.

Also, I wouldn't mind Mike Van Ryn as a cheap 4th D-man.

Which Hab should wear a cape?

I'd have to go with Kovalev.

What, is Markov not a Hab anymore or something?

You must be effing kidding me, because you know Kovalev deserves the cape! Besides, he'd wear it so much better than Markov ever could.

Chara, no questions asked. The Habs would be unstoppable with him. I can just imagine other players having to against either Komisarek or Chara 45-55 minutes per game.

Markov's goal celebration? You're not envisioning the cape right, TheBlades. The celebration deserves a whole bangwagon all by itself.

For right now: Chara or Bergeron
For the future: Lucic or Tuukka Rask (just to remove a goalie who has major franchise potential from Boston!!).

For right now: Kaberle
For the future (or sooner than later ): Schenn

Markov - Komisarek
Hamrlik - Chara or Kaberle
Bouillon - Gorges

Kaberle has the edge offensively, Markov is better defensively. Though right now Markov has the edge on both. So it's more equal if anything.

I've seen a lot of both of them, and IMO Markov is better....

Offensively... passing, vision, stickhandling, running the PP; skating... about the same... it used to be a small edge to kaberle.. but markov has improved the last three years and there is no gap there.
Shot edge Markov by a lot; harder and more accurate...
Defensively.... edge Markov by quite a bit.

Thanks for coming out though.

Sorry but I would say Kaberle is a better skater than Markov and not just slightly. He is faster and more agile.

Kaberle's wrister is also better than Markov's, but I agree Andrei's slapshot is better.

Both are equals in stickhandling and running the PP.

Though defensively Markov wins.

Skating i'll give you that... Kaberle wins that...

Passing, stickhandling, vision, running the PP is equal to me

Wristshot i think is pretty even... Markov can be deadly accurate with his...
Slapshot... big edge Markov

Defensively... definetely Markov.

Shootout GWG Celebration:
Markov >>>>>>>>>>>>>>. Kaberle

Which D would i rather have.... not counting the fact Markov makes about 1.5million more... I go Markov.

I don't think we need anyone from these teams. We have a lot of season to play before the deadline(when moves will be made) and have depth developing in Hamilton that needs to see some chance of promotion through good play. And don't forget that O'byrne could very well shed the panic in his game and become the guy this season.

I think a guy like Henry, has a chance of earning a spot on the team after 50 or so games in Hamilton as he has NHL experience and is playing great in Hamilton. Also there is Carle who could earn a promotion too as he has some AHL experience, and Weber who impressed this preseason, and could earn a spot etc. If Gainey makes a move now, it will essentially shut the door on a chance on anyone of these guys earning a spot on the Big club by the end of the regular season.

But for giggles, lets say we still need another D man at the deadline.

I say we go all out and get the best guy available for our cap limit. Whether that means trading a roster player to fit the D man coming our way or not is up to Bob. I don't want to see any of our forwards traded. I like our team up front. Dandy even has value to us. We are stacked up front with what ever we need for any opponent. Guy changes his 4th line to accomodate the guys sharing the ice time and shaping the line for the opponent. If the other team has a big goon, laraque plays. If they don't have one, either begin or dandeneault plays. Kostopoulos plays most games and Lapierre plays every game. To me the Dandeneault lapiere kostopoulos line has been great. Plus there is Chips, stewart etc for spares on that line. geting off topic here(our depth does that to me lol)

from Toronto or Boston?

do we have to? and will they trade with Montreal?

Wideman from Boston....Chara is a jerk

Kubina from Toronto I think kubina is better all around player than kaberle.

I don't think this thread was ever meant to be a serious trade discussion thread... just a fantasy hypothetical if you could snatch one guy from their team who would it be.

Boston and Montreal trading when both are playoff teams is highly, highly unlikely.

Toronto would likely not worry about doing a deal with us though if it helps them rebuild and gets rid of an old guy for them.

From the Leafs: Luke Schenn (no brainer...)

From the Bruins: Lucic or Bergeron.

Imagine in the next few years;

Higgins - Koivu - Tanguay
Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kostitsyn
Latendresse - Maxwell - Lucic
Laraque - Lapierre - Stewart

Markov - Komisarek
Hamrlik - Schenn
Emelin - O'Byrne

We'd be a tough team to play against (that team would even fit under the cap)

Those Bruin fans are funny as #$!! they keep talking about how dirty Komisarek is and too afraid to fight Lucy.

Lets take a look at a couple of dirty plays that Komisarek has never came close to doing. Two supposed tough Bruins almost end players careers.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J-mcRu5UV0

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lT8mM4pDpBc

This is the hit that hurt Begin but the Bruin fans talk about Begin hurting Savard. I think Begin really started playing dirty against the Bruins after he had received this hit.

I've always admired Kaberle so he would be the Leaf I choose.

As for the Bruins, probably Bergeron.

For instant boost, Kaberle and Chara. With Markov, Komisarek, Hamrlik, Gorges, it would be an awesome defence.

From Toronto:
Luke Schenn. No one else is even close. A good, young, cap friendly dman is worth as much as anything in the new, cap world NHL.

From Boston:
Milan Lucic. When you take everything into consideration (age, salary), this one isn't close as well, imo. Chara would be nice, but would require us to move out some players for salary sake.
