Not surprisingly, Flames coach Mike Keenan unveiled new lines Wednesday afternoon at the Westside Rec Centre.
Surprisingly, the stellar line of C Dustin Boyd, RW David Moss and LW Curtis Glencross didn't go untouched.
Boyd was promoted to the first line, while C Craig Conroy went to the third. The result:
* Michael Cammalleri-Dustin Boyd-Jarome Iginla
* Todd Bertuzzi-Daymond Langkow-Rene Bourque
* Curtis Glencross-Craig Conroy-David Moss
* Eric Nystrom-Wayne Primeau-Brandon Prust
"Don't read anything into it," cautioned a cold-ridden Keenan. "I'm just experimenting and looking for someone to inspire the group of players that hasn't been as consistent as those particular young players."
I am really liking the looks of that top line. Spreads out the scoring as well. Man if only we can get Lombo back and knock Connie to the press box for a few games. Is this the game the McE gets some action????
I would think so, but who knows. There was no morning skate today, so no way of predicting who will start. But Predators backup Pekka Rinne is expected to start tonight for Nashville.
Just found out that I'll be going to the game, so I'm pretty stoked. I'll do my best to make sure the Dome is a little bit louder than last game.
Without the morning skate it's hard to say, but I do think Kipprusoff will get the night off. Hopefully Iginla will repeat his performance against the Preds and preferrably we don't need to come back from 3 goals down.
A 3 game losing streak is not acceptable, so we had best light-up Rinne tonight.
Really like those lines. To bad they will be changed before the game probably. I will seriously be disappointed if Conroy sees top line duty tonight. Kind of a must win game so I don't know if Keenan will go with McElhinney tonight. Can't afford a loss tonight and Kipper is the guy so I am expecting him. Hope I am wrong though and they show some confidence in McElhinney.
Nashville is a scary team to play against. Not really confident at all tonight and don't know what to expect. Backup goalie is playing for the Preds so the flames need to get on him early and put some past him.
What a terrific period by the flames. All 4 lines, all 6 d and Kipper were on their games. Made the young goalie look bad which you need to do in a game like this. Conroy has been the whipping boy by the fans especially last game, but he has had an impressive period. Got to give him credit for that period.
