Florida - Philadelphia

To Florida:
Hartnell
2nd/3rd 09
Nodl

To Flyers:
Bouwmeester

Is this even at all considering that Bouwmeester will not get equal value in return?

The Flyers don't have either a 2nd or 3rd so the trade already doesn't work.

value is possibly close; i think that UFA-pending status is hurting bouw's trade value.

hartnell probably has more value to the flyers than what he'd bring in a trade. in reality, lupul makes more sense to be moved. also, the flyers wealth of mediocre defensemen dictates that florida has to be taking at least one back, so take a pick of jones/kukkonen/eminger/alberts/etc.

the trade that's been running around in my head was

to philly: bouwmeester
to florida: jones, lupul

obviously, there's probably a need to add smaller pieces on the flyer's side of the deal, but thats the basic parts of it. ...and as GKJ already stated, no second or third rounders this year.

Jones and Downie or Giroux or Parent should be added or who knows maybe Flyers 1st round pick as well.

Nodl does not work in this one.

Jay is top 15 d-men is NHL. SOme may say he is top 10 and I may agree. He is only 25 yo.

J-Bo would not be going to PHI unless Carter was heading back to FLA

Right... and Flyers do this because then want to lose RFA who is signed for next 3 years while getting UFA who will ask for 6-7M a year and somehow it is fair?

Little minds..

We have a 3rd rounder this year. We have Calgary's from the Vandermeer trade.

Carter just signed an extension and is playing very well in Philly. He's not going anywhere, especially for the un-signed Bouw.

Doesn't matter what others think, he's not going anywhere for just Bouw. Not going to happen.

Well the truth is there is no way someother team isn't going to offer a ton for J-bo.

In truth it would take something like Carter from which ever team trades for him. You as a philly fan can complain about the price, but the truth is other teams would gladly
part with this sort of value to get him. He is one of the top young D-men in the game and as such will command a high price.

From the Oilers we would offer.

Cogliano, Smid and 2nd for Jbo

Maybe not just one player. But that deal is about the equivalent of Carter.

It also doesn't help that he started off hot. If he had like 1 or 2 goals so far, Philly fans would be all for the trade.

But he doesn't. He's been dominant. He's playing great defense, he's hitting, his passing has improved a bit. The only thing he's done poorly is on the face off.

and for him to say "it's going to take a player like Carter" and then not offer that is dumb. It's not about equivalency.

Plenty of Flyers fans have offered things that add up to about Carter's worth and better what the guy was offering.

Its not about equivalency?

All people do is compare this trade to other trades. Hossa, Pronger, Forsberg, etc. So its exactly about equivalency.

My point is that the poster said that Florida would need to get a player like Carter back and he didn't put one in his proposal.

His whole point was that they need a prime-time player back and he didn't offer one.

Now you can say well that added up to Carter, but if Florida needs a prime-time player it doesn't matter if the deal is equivalent because of quantity.

We need a prime-time player, but I realize we aren't in the strong position here. The only thing we could have going for us is a bidding war at the trade deadline and hope some team overpays.

When was the last time there was an actual bidding war for a guy being dangled for trades?

That's fine, but I was talking about his post not what you expect or want back.
