Boston jumps at the Fernandez one but passes on the Savard one.

Why would they trade a 90+ point player whose got a 5 mil cap hit for Horcoff a 70ish point player at his best whose got a cap hit worth 5.5. Sure, Horcoff is a superior defensive player, but not enough so to make up for Savards dynamic offense. And I don't think Chorney and a 3rd hold enough value to sway it so Boston says yes.

I don't think the Devils want to take on a salary dump for 2nd. Package Fernandez with something NJ would want you might have a deal. If NJ is satisfied with Weekes in net though, I don't think Boston has a shot at dealin him to the Devils unless they cannot turn down the return.

not sure the B's would do deal #1

and I've gotten the impression from NJ Fans over the past few days that Lou wouldn't pull the trigger on that

Just give NJ time and they will make a move. In the next few weeks they will see that they will need to make a move and they will. NJ won't give up a 2nd for Manny maybe a 3rd or a 4th. But I at this point Boston would take a 5th so come on NJ make an offer. Also why would Boston make this trade? Sav is a way better player and has a better contract.

Dallas doesn't do this. We already had Manny.

I'd hop on the second deal....Not the first.

Does anyone else not see Dallas in either proposal, or is it just me?

Think you meant "Devils" instead.

As a Oiler fan I wouldn't trade Hocoff plus for the same type of player at the same as or less talent. Horcoff is basically the heart of the Oilers.

I wouldn't do this deal.

are you serious? Savard has wayyyyy more talent than horcoff. I would do that deal in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't do the Savard deal from an Edmonton perspective, but not because I think the value is off. I wouldn't do it because Edmonton is already choc full of passers, with Hemsky, Gagner, and Nilsson all much more inclined to pass than shoot. Horcoff is the lone true sniper that the Oilers have in the top 6, and trading him in a package for yet another playmaker would be a mistake.

I wouldn't do the Savard one as well as a Oilers fans. He's a playmaker and Hemsky needs a sniper. I also think Bruins would pass as well.

I would do Horcoff for Savard any day as an Oilers fan and I'm sure no Boston fan would do this deal. ITs obvious how that swings.

HOWEVER, Taylor Chorney is either our #1 or #2 prospect. The kid has a future, and the difference in Horc and Savard might not be enough to make this deal.

While Savard would guarantee a few more points, Horc still excels at other areas of the game. (Areas that ONLY he provides in the Center position for the Oil right now.) The difference might not be enough to persuade the Oil to include a blue chipper in the package. It would totally change the composition of Edmonton's lineup.
