Sorry crying foul here. You give Commodore " a bottom level defenseman" per one of your board members too much credit. He went for a big hit, and it was a dumb time to do it, and wiffed big time. He caught the Montreal player with an elbow as he was out of control from again a dumb play on his part and was penalized accordingly.

He threw an elbow into a guy's face, probably for the same reason McLaren did, he missed the hit and reacted. Throwing out the elobow is a dangerous play and can be used to highlight the kind of cheap shot that doesn't belong in the game.

Taking the shot when the hit is gone is a decison a player has to know not to make, like a Marchment who would throw out the kneee when his hit was mis-timed.
