In fairness regarding the shot totals, the Leafs had, what, 8 minutes of powerplay time? Compared to our 1, if that?

I'd send Laraque after Grabovski or that little puke called Carlo.

Time to clean out some clocks.

And just where would you slot him into the lineup? He has to play on the top two lines to be effective. He cried like a baby in Phoenix last year and was threatening to go to Russia if we didn't trade him. They got a 2nd and Pateryn. Pateryn by most accounts at the rookie camp looks great and was probably much higher on the Habs draft list than the 5th round where he was taken. Trust in Gainey and Timmins.

Sure glad that period is over, what a horrible start for the Habs, the good thing is they're only down by 1.

What this team needs is exactly what they're gunna get, lots of games in a short period of time to get in the groove.

Terrible how we keep taking penalties.

Not playing all that bad, but it's hard to get momentum. Hopefully the team can get some time in Toronto's zone in the 2nd, or at least some quality chances on the powerplay.

Not the ideal start, but it's far from over. Hopefully Van Ryn is ok.

Is there ever a Hab/Leaf game where the Leafs don't have at least one 5 on 3?

Terrible play by the habs and blatant ignoring of the rule book by the officials. There is zero disputing Kostopoulos and Kostitsyn penalties however Carlo Colaiacovo instigated a fight and the whole leaf team went after Kostitsyn.

Habs are crap tonight so far and two veteran officials need to give their head a shake.

Its not that. When this team needs a goal, they look unstoppable and will get it more often than not. My beef is that they don't seem to feel the urgency in scoring unless they're trailing or time is running out. We haven't scored first since the Florida game.

To be fair, I didn't see the first four minutes. So we might have had an AMAZING three minutes that made up for it all.

The reason we were owned by penalties was because we took stupid penalties. Repeatedly. The only good play I saw from us was on the PK, and a little bit of Markov.

Habs are lucky to be down by only one goal. They don't look like they have the legs to win this game. I hope they'll rebound in the second period but I wouldn't bet on it.

Kovy was keeping it simple. He got the puck out 2-3 times on the 3on5.
