Flyers to make another move

Not really speculation, more of a fact.

They are 300k under the cap right now, but when Jones returns they will be well over.

If I have this right, the salary incrementally comes off the cap. That's how the Devils got Richard Matvichuk into the lineup a couple years ago. It depends when he comes off, and he doesn't have to come off when he's cleared to play.

they will likely move Knuble soon........only thing that makes sense.........then bring in Shanny as a FA for less

I would think someone would take a flyer on Knuble..........as a Ranger fan I would like him but no way the Flyers will deal in conference

They won't trade Knuble at this point. The Flyers are a team once again searching for identity and Knuble is one of the guys that has it. Plus, Shanahan likely would make more than Knuble, so, unlikely.

Shanahan is not going to make 3 mil this season. Shanahan wants to stay around New York and the only team thats interested around New York is Philly. Knuble is the only Flyer that fits because of his contract. Trade Knuble, sign Shanahan and Jones can come back under the cap.

To hell with that, I don't like Knuble but why don't we just get rid of Jones? Timonen Coburn Vaananen Carle Sbisa Parent I can live with that as a top 6 while the younger guys develop.

Players don't play in the NHL to develop.

By the way, Shanahan isn't going to sign as some sort of charity player. If he was, he would have signed with the Rangers. His pro-rated full-season number will be around $3M. If the Flyers don't want to meet his demands, there is a team to our west who will.

Speculation is that he would play for less than a million

http://www.spectorshockey.net/index....cles&Itemid=55

"The Flyers currently have about $700K in available cap space and Shanahan is believed willing to play for less than $1 million this season."

I don't think Shanahan would be an upgrade over Knuble though.

I think Shanahan might also be looking for a team where he'll be in some sort of scoring role. He can do that with the Flyers and their forward depth. I doubt he wants to come back and be a 3rd line grinder.

The Flyers wouldn't need him to be an upgrade over Knuble. Shanahan would be replacing Lupul (if he's traded) or Metro in the top 9.

Yes, while Briere has been out. He's been fine since he got his foot taken care of.

they had him centering 3rd line while they experimented w/ briere at center at start of season...after a few games briere went back to center and metro to 4th line...once briere got hurt metro started centering 2nd line with gagne and knuble on the wings...briere should be back tonught (finger crossed) so metro back to 4th line.

Nobody agrees, but I want to see him center Gagne and Briere, when Briere is healthy. That would leave Hartnell-Richards-Lupul and Upshall-Carter-Knuble as the other two lines. Gagne and Metro mitigate Briere's defensive liabilities to a certain extent, and Metro is probably the best center they have for face offs.
