Hamilton, ON – The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated their North Division rival the Toronto Marlies 5-2 on Saturday night. In front of 4,963 fans at Copps Coliseum, newly appointed captain Kyle Chipchura led the ‘Dogs with two goals and was recognized as the game’s first star.
At this point, i dont see him bringing anything different or needed. Plus, where would he play? We need to be better in our own end, up front we're fine.
I'd like to see him up as much as the next guy, but the chances are terribly slim, even in the event of a Kostopoulos suspension. Unless Dandenault and Bégin are horribly overcome with the flu or something, he won't get called up.
Probably better for him, since he wouldn't see much ice-time here, anyway.

Ummm, defense up front? He needs his playing time already. It's been 4 years since he was drafted and I think Chips is showing he's dedicated. With all the centre spots used up, you can find room if you move Lapierre to the wing or press box. God knows he doesn't do much on the ice (despite his scoring chances), so why not?
Latendresse might sit, Kostopolous might get suspended, Begin and Dandenault come back in, and we take things from there. I don't think there's a spot open yet to justify a recall. Let Chipchura get into a bit of a groove in Hamilton, then call him when we really _NEED_ him.
EASILY. Lapierre missed 2 scoring chances last night that were practically served on a silver platter.
He will never be anything more than a 4th liner, and he's getting more than 4th line minutes. Chipchura can put up decend numbers (as we saw last year). Not to mention he's a big body and he can fight. He also has 3rd line potential and could see some PP time (imo he'd be better at screening than Lats).

Sure he has missed 2 scoring chance but I was one of the few that gave an effort yesterday. By giving an effort he had 2 chances while other player on the team didn't have a single chance.
Has for Chipchura I would like to see him with the habs but I don't think there is a place in the roster right now

yeah that's not a problem at all, who cares about scoring anyway

The only fact Lapierre gets scoring chances is a bonus... He's not the one who has to put the pucks in the net...
When the guy plays 12-14 mins per game I would expect him to score. Getting scoring chances isn't enough, you need someone who can finish.
It's great and all that Lapierre gives it his 100% but he can't put **** in the net (or pass for that matter). He's nothing special defensively either. Latendresse isn't doing much either.
Now I know that we shouldn't be depending on these 2 to win games, but they are two guys who haven't proven that they deserve a spot in the lineup... I see no reason why we shouldn't waive Dandy and Begin in favour of Chipchura and/or D'agostini.
The way the Habs are playing these days, it's only a matter of time when someone gets called up from Hamilton.
I'd rather like a trade for a real top 4 d-man. No one in Hamilton is so special or can bring anything different than what we have now.
This top-4 th d-man could be get for a package involving Halak, O'byrne, a vet like Begin or Dandenault, or a youngster from Hamilton-Chipchura, or D'Agostini or Weber.
I am sure Gainey is keeping a very close eye on Marc Denis' performances. They play him a lot in Hamilton and he is doing quite well. He could backup Price if a deal involving Halak would happen.
