Brett Sterling

I'm curious to see what the thrashers can get for Brett Sterling. He's a goal scorer who is too good for AHL but can't get a look in for a scoring line in Atlanta as he is behind Kovalchuk and Kozlov and hasn't been effective as a right winger or 3rd/4th liner.

Would a deal for Oscar Moller (LA) or Bobby Ryan (ANA) work or would more need to be added?

A lot more.

Sterling hasn't showed much in his brief stints with Atlanta and at this point, it looks like he won't be a Top 6 forward in the NHL, even though he has shown a ton of offense at the AHL level.

there is one stat that jumps out at me and tells me he would never be more then a fringe player--even in the NEW NHL.

Five foot seven??

those stats remind me of

I just realized who the OP is asking for--- you would be lucky to get a 4th for Sterling--let alone the former 2nd overall pick--he stock has fallen--but not that much

Sterling went to my cousin's high school.

That's all I have to add.

I will say this about Sterling, he's better at LW but the Thrashers have two guys named Kovalchuk and Kozlov who already play that position. That means he either plays RW or plays on the 3/4th lines. Some guys play each wing equally well, but Sterling looked pretty uncomfortable at RW last year. This year he's barely received any games or TOI so hard to say.

He may or may not be claimed if waived...

I wouldn't mind seeing the Leafs acquire him as long as they don't give up anything overly useful. Something like Ian White for Sterling + a pick?

It gives Atlanta a versatile player who can play forward or defense at a cheap price and add a bit of offense.

I've followed Sterling for the past couple years in Chicago and ... man. His size is just tough to look over. (No pun!) He spends half the time on his ass in the AHL. He's just not NHL caliber, unfortunately ... and he's one of my favorite players. Sigh ... poor Brett.
