Team Quebec

Every year we have a thread about what a Team Quebec would look like, and if it could challenge for a medal at the Olympics.

What would YOUR team Quebec look like right now? Here's mine:

Alex Tanguay - Vincent LeCavalier - Martin St.Louis
Simon Gagne - Patrice Bergeron - Daniel Briere
PM Bouchard - Antoine Vermette - JP Dumont
Alexandre Burrows - Eric Belanger - Matthew Lombardi
*Mike Ribeiro

ME Vlasic - Dan Boyle
Francois Beauchemin - Stephane Robidas
Francis Bouillon - Philippe Boucher
*Bruno Gervais

Roberto Luongo - Martin Brodeur - MA Fleury

Head Coach: Jacques Lemaire
Assistant Coaches: Guy Carbonneau, Claude Julien

TAXI SQUAD:
F Pascal Dupuis
F Maxime Talbot
F Maxim Lapierre
D Alexandre Picard
D MA Bergeron
G JS Giguere

I think our forwards and goalies are some of the best in the world, if not THE best, except maybe we're a little soft up front. Our defense needs work, but they can skate and move the puck real well.

please keep any kind of politics out of this thread...
Mod Edit: And if you don't want to do a Team Quebec, feel free to do a team from your province

Dan Boyle - born in Ottawa, Ontario
Bouillion - not eligible to play for Quebec.... once you play for one country you can't switch in the IIHF... he has already played for USA. Since no parts of Quebec are in the USA and you are carving this team out of Team Canada, i dont think he would be allowed to switch. Only guys who were previously on Team Canada would be allowed to make the jump.

Every year we have this thread, and every year I nominate Ian Laperriere.

I'm pretty sure Boyle is from ontario.
And Ribeiro should be on that team, as much as people might hate him, he is better than a lot of the players you mentionned on the starting lineup! Plus, the defense is still weak but we have a solid team!

I don't think I'd pick Jacques Lemaire as a couch. He'd have that sweet offensive squad playing defensive hockey. Would be drastically boring.

Agreed, Jacques Lemaire as the coach of this team would make absolutely no sense.

Where the hell would Ribeiro play? This is the Olympics, or the World Championships, not an All-Star game. We need 4th liners (Lombardi, Burrows) and a checking line. Ribeiro wouldnt play before Bergeron, Briere, LeCavalier at center, and he certainly wouldnt be on the checking line. Vermette can win faceoffs and play the PK. Ribeiro cant play wing.

Thus, Ribeiro is the odd man out, sorry.

I didnt know Boyle was from Ontario, my mistake.

As for Bouillon, I never knew he once play for team USA...

Pominville decided to play for team USA, so he's out just like Bouillon.

Wow, how cool is that, JS Giguere as a 4th string goalie.

There is no rule that the coach must come from that country... many teams are coached by Canadians.

In soccer the English National team used to be coached by a swede and is now coached by an italian...

It was an inside joke. That character's name is Jean-Luc Picard... aka Captain Picard.

Gagné - Lecavalier - St-Louis
Tanguay - Ribeiro - Brière
Bouchard - Bergeron - Vermette
Dumont - Bélanger - Lombardi

Vlasic - Beauchemin
Robidas - Boucher
Bergeron - Gervais

Brodeur
Luongo

How would this even work? Quebec isn't a country.

Niether is Welsh, and they still have a national team of soccer. I think that the constitution now regognize that Quebecers form a nation, it's just like what's happening in the UK, nothing much. But it will never be accepted at Olympics, only at the World Championship.

And even if it wasn't that way, you shouldn,t take it as an attack it's more of a little game here than any threat towards Canada's unity.

Ok, its difficult to argue that the goaltending isn't the best in class. But forwards?? Team Alberta or Team Ontario have just as good if not better selections...

Alberta - Iginla, Heatley, Doan, Langkow, Lupul, Chimera, Whitney, Ryan Smyth, Setoguchi, Trent Hunter & Comrie (heck on D they got Bouwmeester, Phillips, Phaneuf, Niedermayer, Souray & Cobourn)

Ontario - Arnott, Boyes, Cammalleri, Thornton, Cheechoo, Mike Richards, Marc Savard, Patrick Sharp, Spezza, the entire Staal family including the mother & Avery etc.. (heck on D they got Bieksa, Blake, Boyle, Campbell, Pronger)
